This afternoon I drove west up into the Rockies for a while. There are signs that say "6% GRADE" which doesn't sound steep but actually is when you're driving it. Also they have runaway truck ramps which are like off-ramps that are covered in sand and end in a big pyramid of barricaes. I, for one, would not mind at all seeing a runaway semi. The lulz must be epic.
New Years Eve here was fantastic; the goth club here was packed (I think there are more goths in Denver than the entire population of New Hartford) and my "twin"; the lovely Steph; was wonderful to hang out with again. I felt like I was with a supermodel or something. I can't express how friendly and cool everybody there was. 360 degrees from the goth snobs in St Louis or clique-land in Milwaukee. Afterwards we went to a warehouse party which is like a goth rave. (gave? grave? roth?) I was told it was legal but we had to squeeze through a gap in a wooden fence a'la Tom Sawyer so I have lingering doubts.
Music must migrate inwards from the coasts, arriving in Blackhawk County IA weeks or months later. The radio here has a bunch of songs that I've never heard played back home yet.
There is a wine channel on cable here. What's the audience for that? I mean, are guys flipping through the channels saying "Screw the Rose Bowl. I wanna see an hour of babbling about merlot."?
Hope you are all well and had a happy new year, and are not in jail or something!
