  1. Most if not all of you already know that Kate Beckett has left the City. She and I talked about the possibility of this happening and we agreed that in her absence and barring any objections from you, I will be taking over command of the police force.

  2. Not all of you know me. My name's Cameron Lynde. In my home world, I'm ( Read more... )

Congratulations, first of all.

Second, you know me. I'm just on call with the police if I'm needed. Back home I'm with the BAU unit of the FBI. I have experience on the bomb squad. I specialize in crimes of obsession. I'm also a trained hostage negotiator. Not much use for a profiler here on a day to day basis. So if you need me, just let me know. That's what Beckett did. Otherwise, I'll be working at the youth center.

Thank you, Derek. I'm not sure they're in order, but thank you anyways.

I do know you, but clearly not well enough. I didn't know you were with the police force, if only in an on call function. Nor did I know you were with BAU. It's definitely good to know and I'll come back to you if need be.

How's things with you?

I'm not always that great at talking about myself right off the bat. Just know if you need me, you can let me know.

Doing alright. Looking forward to opening the Youth Center this week sometime. I've put a lot of work into it.

I don't think I ever asked, either. And thank you, really. I appreciate it, both professionally and personally.

I don't know how much time I'll have left, but let me know if you need any help, too.

Ohhh careful, I just might take you up on that offer.

I wouldn't have offered if I didn't mean it, but it's subject to certain conditions. The police force has to come first, I'm afraid.

Hey, I get it. I was really just teasing you.

[A pause, followed by short, soft laughter.]

I might be a little tense right now.

It's good. I mean law here isn't like law back home. There's too many new and different factors here. But there still needs to be some kind of law.

That's why I'm working on the criminal code. I just-- well, in terms of checks and balances, my writing the code and heading the institution enforcing the laws is a pretty bad combination, objectively speaking.

Maybe so, but the code can be amended as you go. And really with the curses and magic factor of the city it's probably best to keep it as general as possibly and work on a case by case basis.

I plan on submitting the code on the Network for discussion, so that should help as well, but still.
