Last week I started donating plasma at Biotest Plasma to make some money to pay my credit card bills. Cool machine that automatically takes the blood, separates the plasma from the platelets and red blood cells then returns everything but the plasma back into my arms with an anticoagulant through the same tube. Then when it's done it pushes 500mL of saline to help replace the fluid it just took. The room temperature saline feels cold going. Such a weird feeling. Donated on thursday and saturday ($70 each) thinking it was two times per week as in monday through sunday. Go in on tuesday to learn its two times per 7 days. So every odd number donation has to be at least seven days apart.
From there I went over to SantaFe College to get another appeal form because Orion decided to take off running while standing on it. Went to the library to lookup the address for BPL Plasma and talk to the guy about trying to get some grant money to take the CNA test. He ran out last semester before I spoke to him and hasn't received any more yet. Then headed out for BPL.
By the time I got there it was around 1p so I GPS'd local food places because they want you to have a 'well balanced" meal before donating and I hadn't eaten since about 9a. Walked the quarter mile to Subway and got a six inch meal. Saved the chips and got a refill for the drive home and walked back. Went through the new donor stuff (one page to fill out and watch a video which explained the donation process and rules better than Biotest did) and had a seat for all of ten minutes before I was told I couldn't donate because of the seven day rule and was sent on my merry way.
Today Tiffany gave me money to pay my Bank of America bill. I hate that she had to do that. I also had to pull money out of the "Oh shit" fund to pay the rest of my bills. Donating plasma isn't going to bring in enough to cover my credit card bills but hopefully it'll be enough that Tiffany won't have to give me money again. I need a job.
