It is a known fact that Seulgi enjoys sleep just as much as anything else and she can doze off just about anywhere whenever it comes knocking on her door.
It doesn't matter if it's in the van while they're on their way to their schedule or on the way back to their dorm and it miraculously happens that Joy and Yeri still have enough energy left in their gauges and are being the nutjobs that they are at the very back.
It doesn't matter if it's in the waiting room of whichever music show they are scheduled to appear in to promote a song or two and there just happens to be too many things taking place at once with the other members either practicing their lines or are playing games with one another.
It doesn't matter if it's in the living room of their dorm - on the couch, whether it be only her being the sole occupant of the furniture or either of the other four are lounging with her and she's sitting upright however sluggishly while some program is currently showing in the television in front or Joy and Yeri are playing a little too loudly as if they really are in the game (and they are so close to whacking each other's head with the controller in their hands) - Seulgi would still find herself dozing off.
Place itself doesn't matter to Seulgi and so does the surrounding. There could be a really loud music blasting, filling up every corner of the room or there could be a series of horrendous banging on the door, she'd still be asleep and deep in her slumber.
But tonight is quite an exception.
Seulgi can't sleep, can't even step foot on the land of Nod, can't even be in the arms of Morpheus, can't even close her eyes because of the relatively wide awake Wendy on the upper bunk across the room.
Normally she wouldn't really care the slightest when either Wendy or Irene are still yet to call it a night. At least not when she's already drowsy and she's just more than ready to pull the orange comforters over her shoulder except at this very moment, for it is already past midnight and even if Wendy is barely making any movement, she can tell that Wendy is completely awake as she is just by listening closely to the deafening silence that is carrying her unspoken thoughts or perhaps troubles that she can't just turn a blind eye at anymore.
Careful not to wake the oldest sleeping in the lower bunk across, Seulgi tried not to make any sound as she slipped out of her bed and took very light steps as she made her way to the other side of the room until she's already standing right by the side of the bunks, particularly Wendy's whose back is facing her.
Seulgi did not say anything but just tapped the petite's shoulder that is sticking out of the blue comforters of hers a couple of times to get her attention and make her presence known.
It didn't take long as Wendy turns around to face her and she receives a questioning look from her right then and there as if to ask her why is she still awake at this very hour, but Seulgi just beams back and she thanks the faint light coming from the lone street lamp post outside that managed to seep through the blinds of their room for making it possible for her to see the corners of Wendy's succulent lips curl up into a smile. Then, Wendy mouthed what she guessed to be 'dork' and reached out to prod her cheek. She just grins.
Again, Seulgi did not have to do so much as opening her mouth and speak a string of words just to express her intention for putting Wendy's brooding into a brief pause. She just looked into those glimmering orbs before her and simply nodded to a particular direction and when Wendy got the silent message, she quietly sauntered away and carefully closed the door behind her once she stepped out of the bedroom she shares with her and Irene.
With folded arms and back against the wall, Seulgi stood waiting, but not so long as the door soon opened and she just acted upon instinct. She leant forward and pressed her lips on Wendy's before she could even say something other than gasp.
While it made her laugh as her lips moved against hers, Wendy merely hummed, responding to her kiss with a smile she's trying her best to contain so as to appear unimpressed but not forgetting to land a couple of slaps on her shoulder. Yet Wendy still failed to stop the curling of her lips when they parted and likewise Seulgi felt so triumphant seeing her unsuccessful attempt.
"Hi," Seulgi mirthfully greeted, earning herself a light shoving from the flushed but equally amused Wendy.
"Hi yourself." Wendy snickered and she just laughed.
She then took hold of her wrist and they started walking past the living room and to the front door they headed.
"Are we going out?" Wendy asked, cranning her neck slightly to look at the taller girl reaching for their jackets hanging on the coat rack shelf.
"Yeah, we are."
"At this hour?"
Now Wendy sounded as if she just gave her the most of her nonsensical ramblings and she couldn't help but laugh as she nodded in confirmation whilst handing her oversized camouflage patterned jacket.
"Seulgi, you're clearly aware that it's already one in the morning and we can't really sneak out."
"Yes, I know. I'm very aware and who said we're sneaking out?"
Seulgi looked at her amusedly at once she had slipped into her orange summit jacket.
"Well duh genius, aren't we going out?"
Wendy retorted with an eyebrow quirked in a questioning manner and once again Seulgi just grinned and ignored her question as she brought a hand up to cup her cheek and leant in to press her lips on her forehead.
A faint tint of red quickly spread across her face and Seulgi couldn't stop herself from chuckling at the sight. She finds it quite amusing whenever she does what Wendy could have initiated and Wendy just watches in silence and shies away after, but at the same time she feels pride creep up in her chest knowing full well just how much effect she has on her.
"Put on your jacket already and trust me we aren't literally going out there."
Soon enough they found their selves walking up the stairs of the apartment building they reside in with hands perfectly fitted on one another's and fingers interlaced.
"The rooftop?" Wendy asks, a playful smile tugging on her lips as they took the last flight of stairs leading to the particular place she had just spoke of.
Seulgi only hummed a response and nodded.
She pushed the door open and they stepped out and walked right to the middle where they halted and she was the first one to sit on the floor. Wendy followed suit but before she could even actually do so, Seulgi tugged the hem of her jacket's sleeve to get her attention. Seulgi simply shook her head when she received yet another questioning look from her.
"What the hell Seulgi, you don't want me to sit?" Wendy half exclaimed in amusement.
"Not beside me, no."
"Then where Danmoo?"
Seulgi snickers upon hearing the newly acquired nickname after so long. Then she took hold of her hand and yanked her down - right in front of her, in between, and snaked her arms around her waist, pulling her close and embracing her from behind before Wendy could even utter any sort of reaction. She planted her chin on her shoulder and smiled as she softly whispered the obvious answer,
"Right here, Seungwandukong."
Wendy leant her back against her whilst scoffing playfully but smiling so broadly.
"Well, gotta admit this is much better."
"Right?" Seulgi grins.
"But why did you bring me here?"
"Look up," she says. Wendy obliges and she then continues with an ever growing smile reaching her ears. "Look how the stars shine for you."
Wendy laughs as she throws her head back a bit, cheeks tinted red. "I swear Seulgi, your cheese will be the death of me one day."
"Oh come on! But you like them right?"
"I love it, idiot." Wendy giggled and she only responded by placing a light kiss underneath her earlobe, grinning.
She hears her sigh then and feels her smile softly. Soon, Wendy asks her the same question again.
"But really though, why did you bring me here?"
"I just thought it's better if you brood out here. It's quiet here but it's relaxing and at least when you're done, you can breathe in the night air and start anew."
No other words were soon followed after as Wendy only gave a small nod and kept silent, and Seulgi need not to ask why or what because she knows the reason of her silence.
Wendy may appear to be always in the greatest of her moods for always smiling and laughing as if there's not a thing that causes her to worry or troubles her. It's partly true but it's also partly bull because Wendy is just like everyone else and at the end of the day is just like any other person who gets tired, feels pressured, feels insecurity and gets melancholic. And Seulgi is not so dense not to notice how half hearted her smiles and laughter are today and just how dejected she looks like whenever she catches her alone and staring into nothingness.
Seulgi immediately got the idea that Wendy may just be tired after an event that they attended and had to perform at, but she saw a glimpse of how she longingly looked outside the van on their way back and she knew right then and there that it's a lot more than feeling worn out, for Wendy merely smiled nor laughed anymore when they reached their dorm in spite of the youngest members cracking up a joke and when everybody else had already called it a night, she stayed awake until Seulgi just couldn't take it anymore and she felt the need to do something, anything, that can calm her down and assure her that's everything's alright.
"It's just that I've been tired and stressed lately, and I miss my parents." Wendy confesses, her velvety voice, soft and quiet and for a moment Seulgi thought of how she can just close her eyes and listen to her for the rest of the night.
"I know." She whispers, holding her closer.
"Seulgi,"
"Yeah?"
"Can we pretend that we're sixteen again and we're so in love and we're out here, thinking of running away from the world because we wanted to marry each other?"
A grin instantly creeps up on her face upon hearing Wendy's small request. Wendy glances at her, waiting and seemingly looking amused with her own call. She gently taps the tip of her nose and shoots back a question for an answer,
"But aren't we still so in love and still thinking of the same thing?"
Seulgi chortled and as if on cue, faint hues of red had spread across her face like a wildfire due to embarrassment.
Wendy groans and warns as she plants her face on the crook of her neck. "Danmoo, I swear to god!"
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" She laughed and Wendy just let out a muffled whining whilst hitting her shoulder.
"Wendy," Seulgi calls after their laughter dies down. Wendy on hums a response and looks at her expectantly. She smiles at her. "When we get our vacation, let's visit your parents and we can pretend and feel as if we really did run away."
Wendy smiles through bitten lip and she could only imagine the horde of butterflies attacking her stomach. At least Seulgi hopes they did appear and managed to make Wendy feel those fluttering feelings she herself still gets whenever she looks at her and their hands touches like it was the first time all over again.
"Sounds good to me."
Wendy says and Seulgi just watches her lean in and smile and laugh against her lips.
