Goodbye

Bella has passed away. I am very angry, and very sad. I`m posting everything that happened UTC, and asking for advice on how I should deal with the vet.

Bella is three and a half years old. I've been away for four days, at my grammas. My family always takes very good care of her, and I had no worries. Today my sister phoned me, crying and saying that Bella was dying.

I rushed home with my friend Nicole, and we took Bella to the vet, thinking she'd have to be euthanized. It sounds horrible, so let me explain:

I guess she got an infection in the past few days. Her teeth were missing, and she was having a hard time breathing/moving. She was doing almost nothing.

The vet did an eighty dollar exam, and said "I can't euthanize this animal in good conscience, she is perfectly healthy. It looks like she's missing some nutrients, she's getting up in age. We'll give you some medication, and we need you to switch her to a hedgehog food."

They gave Bella six needles, and some medication while I was there. They gave me two different types of meds to give to her at home, as well as syringes.

We - me, Skye, NIcole - had to wait for my stepdad to come and pick us up. WHILE SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM AT THE VET, BELLA VOMITED TWICE AND POOPED BLOOD. I called the technician over both times to show him, and both times he said it was normal.

We got home and I put Bella in her cage, hoping some rest would do her some good. Ten minutes later I went to check on her, and she was dead.

I called the vet clinic, and the vet was gone, but the secretary said to come in on monday and they'd give me money back for the one medication. I want to bitch at the vet, and while getting reimbursed would be nice, this isn't about the money. This is about them saying she'd be fine, and ignoring the signs, and her dying twenty minutes after they touched her.

Advice?
