Finally

The policy put into effect by the Clinton Administration, the one widely known as Don't Ask, Don't Tell (conveniently leaving off the Don't Pursue part that was so often ignored by the military), has finally, finally come to an end.

NPR had an excellent story on the end of DADT and the reality of its effects on some servicemembers today.

I'm glad to see it end; I'd be gladder if the policy were a step forward for all LGBT servicemembers, but it's not. Remember, trans folk are still prohibited from serving openly in the military. While I'm glad to see DADT ended, I'm a wee bit tired of the media ignoring that fact. (You can check out this article for more information on that topic.)
