[Sometime around Christmas 2014]
"I’ve been working on this for quite some time," Hector explained, fetching the item from his library’s desk nearby, then holding out the shiny new camcorder for Corbin to take. The size was small enough to grasp with one hand, but large enough to carry with it an air of professionalism and quality; the base camera he’d picked out had been quite pricy. But Hector wouldn’t give Corbin something so simple; no, he’d tinkered with this device for weeks, modifying it with fantastic results. "I do hope you’ll do me the honor of testing it out now."
Enchanting a camcorder to record mage sight was not a lesson covered in the books that filled Hector’s shelves; no, this was a task that he’d been forced to use trial and error in order to complete. With this camera, Corbin would be able to record the truth of the world around them - even if he couldn’t see it with his own eyes, the camera’s screen could see all.
Hector certainly didn’t celebrate Christmas for its religious significance, but did look for reasons to gift Corbin something of worth. This invention was unique, a treasure that he’d never seen in use before, and in the wrong hands could spell trouble for all mages.
But that level of trust was what Hector had for Corbin. The vampire had given his ear to Hector’s concerns, had been his workmate for so many morbid little experiments, had talked with him at length about the intricacies of death; they shared a connected that Hector truly appreciated and enjoyed. His demeanor was ever calm as always, but the edges of his lips had curled into a soft smile. "And I trust that you'll take care of it."
