I love explosions, I love robotic things!
Watch this commercial! It is full of joyness especially if you ever get sucked into the Discovery channel. Adam + fire + Jamie = LOVE!
I keep having to work doubles on Friday nights. Last night I had to do some maneuvering to get home in time for BSG! Ah, it feels good to have a show that is so absurdly important I can't even bear to wait for the torrent.
So, did I like
SWEATY GAETA ON STARBUCK'S SHIP FUCK YEAH.
GAETAAAAA! And Seelix? Really? And Athena, so it's a family ship…? That's an interesting choice.
Wait but dude. How is Galactica even going to function without Gaeta AND without Apollo? And with Tigh and the Chief all crazy -
I mean, wow. Gaeta's a valuable resource for the Admiral to have given up to the necessary-to-keep-Kara-alive mission. Helo and Athena, too. Maybe he believes she could be right more than he admits.
…Okay, I just want to get this out of the way, EW BOOMER/CAVIL. She's either up to something or the Cavils frakked with her programming. The Ones suck!
Although man, everyone sucked in this episode. Everyone SUCKED!
I quite enjoyed it. ^_^
Ah, I am laughing to myself right now about all the reasons people cite for hating season 6 of Buffy. I hardly dare wonder how fandom is going to come down on this angle.
Starbuck is emotionally abusing Anders and using him for sex even though he loves her although he's a soulless thing! (Which, thanks guys, now I have to not just like but root for Anders! Sam. You can do better than this, Samuel T. Anders! Save yourself! Don't be another fool for love! Look, Seelix totally still wants you.)
People are being petty! And ridiculous! Cally was CRAZY! Chief was horrible to her (he was! It's understandable, but he was) and she was crazy and Tory was kind of evil and Cavil was way evil and the Sixes were naïve and Roslin was horrible to Lee and Lee was horrible back and Zarek is SO TOTALLY A CYLON or not but either way he is not to be trusted - although he very well may be right. Power corrupts!
Anya told the truth all the time when she was evil.
I'm glad to see them all being so stupid and petty and crazy to each other. We all are sometimes, and they've all been in this extraordinarily stressful situation for years now, stuck in close quarters, and no matter how much they love each other (and they do) no one can keep it together under these circumstances forever.
We've lost ten thousand since the initial attack. Ten thousand.
Lee was right in Crossroads (duh): we're not a civilization, we are a gang. And we are on the run. For our lives.
Things have been slowly deteriorating since day one, and everyone is barely hanging on. They're so close to the end now, and they all feel it - they've got to find Earth now or never, for a thousand reasons that all boil down to running out of time.
Can't blame a single one of them for just not caring about playing nice anymore.
I think they might pull it off.
I know it's a show so of course they'll find Earth, but after that - I'm not really sure I know whose side the writers are on, or what kind of ending they'll consider satisfying.
But I believe these characters can win it all, if they trust themselves and get a little lucky.
Not everyone gets lucky in this 'verse. The Chief's deck gang has been hit damned hard.
I feel much the same about Cally's death as I did about Jammer's: I think she could have done more, been stronger, had she lived, and I'm sorry she didn't get the chance to try, but all the same what she did do was enough. And I find it terribly interesting that she was clearly feeling like a crap mother and fed up with trying to be good and in love with her baby when she just wanted him to shut up and/or his father to watch him for a while - I mean, it would be driving anyone crazy, I just think that's such an interesting spot to have one's life story come to an end. I would be cranky enough about it to hit someone repeatedly with a wrench.
I also like what they're using Cally's death to make us understand (I think): these are characters we love, and they want to think they're still on our side too, but the fact is the rules are different now and their need to remain concealed (in order to survive) means that everyone around them is in danger. Choosing sides isn't as simple as it sounds.
Speaking of choosing sides - I don't think I am emotionally prepared for Roslin Vs. Apollo. I can handle Lee fighting with Papadama, I'm totally content to watch Starbuck and Apollo on their separate journeys and not worry about when they'll meet again, but I don't know I if can rewatch any scenes involving Lee and Laura smiling while stabbing each other until they've made up and they love and trust each other again. Because what if they never do? What if she dies still mad at him? Nooooooooo! Lee, win her back over, I know you can! Don't trust that slipperly Zarek!
Well I guess I did.
