College Brainwashing

Sep 07, 2005 21:38

One of my brothers is taking a sociology class; his liberal professor assigned him four articles to read before the next class. Three were by liberals (including Paul Krugman) and one was by a conservative who was criticizing the President. Fair and balanced? He also has to read a book written by the vice-chair of the Democratic Socialists of Read more... )

lunacy, education, liberalism, higher education

Ah, I thought you were referring to guests on my blog. Regardless:

you made that palestinian sympathizer cry

Who? What? When? (I wish!)

you threatened to hit my communist friend.

Perhaps, but probably in jest. Again: who/what/when?

you get grama riled up at the dinner table.

Not true and she's senile anyway.

you scared aunt marilyn.

When/how? She's a socialist anyway, I should scare her!

you scare mom.

Not true at all. I'd like at least one example that's not made up.

you made me vote for bush, when i was gonna vote for someone funnier.

I didn't *make* you do anything, I simply appealed to your logic and reasoning skills and you *chose* to vote for the better of the two main candidates.

and i like how you tell me what position i take when i clearly know what position im taking

Actually, you don't.

im liberal.

You couldn't even define liberal. One day you're conservative, the next you're moderate, then you're apathetic, then you're liberal. It all depends on who the last person was that you talked to. You're for excellence over forced equality, freedom over forced equality, high art over crap, national defense over pacifism, Israel over the Arab terrorists, intellectual property rights over anarchy, free speech over political correctness, etc. Come out of the closet!

and do you really think that ZAK is being brainwashed by a *teacher*?

No, I said that she was trying but that he had too much common sense for it (he admits that he's a conservative). Other students in his class, unfortunately, are being brainwashed.

Zak doesnt listen to anyone, why would he listen to a teacher?

He does listen to people, just not idiots.

Especially sociology! He's taking that for credits, not for any academic enlightenment.

Wrong. He switched out.

palestinian sympathizer : marks friend, last summer i think.. he was crying

you DO get grama riled up! Mom says "dont talk about politics" but you do anyway!

you scared marilyn at thanksgiving cuz you made some outrageous remark about california liberals

you scare mom she just doesnt show it to you.. because shes scared

you MADE me vote for bush with violence! you raised your hand to me when i even joked otherwise

the position im taking trancends political placement... i am whatever you are not, and youre not liberal, so there i am.

and i never ever said i was conservative. i put moderate on my facebook and then YOU said i was conservative because you wanted the whole family to be homogenous (like conservatives often do) and who said i was for national defense over pacifism?

and zak doesnt admit that hes a conservative, he tells you that because hes was smart, and he knew that even though he had no opinion in politics, he would just make sure you thought he was on your side so you wouldnt bother him. i was unfortunate enough to have dreams of being in the music business, where i cant even pretend to be conservative, so i couldnt do the same thing as him. and now i cant change because i just dont want you to win anyway.

and zak doesnt listen to anyone. he only does what he likes when he likes. hes a no bullshit guy

im glad to hear that he switched out of sociology, so he can focus on cooler stuff.. like computer science

Mark's friend who? Where? I have no recollection of that (and I'm pretty sure that I would remember it if it had really happened because I would've been pretty damned proud of myself).

Grandma doesn't get riled up. She can't even hear me (or anyone for that matter).

I'm glad I "scared" Marilyn (though you have no proof that she was scared).

No proof about Mom either. She's not scared at all; she even agrees with me 80-90% of the time. Stop imagining things.

I never hit you over voting. I might hit you over this.

You were never the anti-me; you were the wanna-be-me. From Legos to karate, you copied everything I did growing up. Now you want to be independent and you were always argumentative so you're putting on this farce but one day, you'll realize that you're a conservative and you'll feel much better.

and zak doesnt admit that hes a conservative, he tells you that because hes was smart...

Wrong. It's in his facebook profile and he's constantly trying to convince his girlfriend and other friends that they're wrong when they make liberal arguments. He is a conservative through-and-through. Just ask him!

was unfortunate enough to have dreams of being in the music business, where i cant even pretend to be conservative, so i couldnt do the same thing as him.

Perhaps because the liberals in the industry engage in censorship? Hmmm... perhaps *they* are the ones whose lack of "fairness" you should be concerned about!

and now i cant change because i just dont want you to win anyway.

I refer to earlier comments.

and zak doesnt listen to anyone. he only does what he likes when he likes. hes a no bullshit guy

I meant that he "listens" in the denotative sense: he hears and understands what people say. He doesn't blindly follow anyone. (That's why he's conservative!)

well id like to say that yea im conservative, ive had enough experience hearing both sides to find out what type of world view i have. jared you are probably more conservative then you think. the sociology class i took was very clearly biased and i feel bad for anyone taking the class that doesnt have any knowledge of the issues. meg took a sociology class and her teacher was the same way and she was pretty much brainwashed, she was coming home with papers that were compleatly one sided, like they would have scewed facts. jason isnt just imagining this, its a real life thing. also i dated a girl recently and i decided not to continue it cause of her political views, every time the issue would come up (and i dont like politics but they came up anyways) we would disagree. so i suppose i am conservitive and being in this engineering school it seems that more people are then other schools.

i dont want people to think i switched out of sociology because it was too biased because believe me i would have liked to sit there and hear what she has to say, it was really because it was a 3 credit course and an elective and this woman was acting like it was the most important course in my major and was assigning multiple books, library research papers, group presentations ect... when i think of elective i think of a course where i can breeze by and pick up a few useful facts along the way.

You were never the anti-me; you were the wanna-be-me. From Legos to karate, you copied everything I did growing up. Now you want to be independent and you were always argumentative so you're putting on this farce but one day, you'll realize that you're a conservative and you'll feel much better.

i dont know why ur saying that stuff because every kid had legos, i had more then jared. every kid did karate, i took more then jared. and what else did he copy you with anyways? jared has always been jared and never was jason. and ive always been me. we always had our own things and sometimes we would have a similar interest but i dont think any of us ever tried being like another of us.

jared is exaggerating a lot of that stuff about you offending people but its not like he just made it up, yea you rile people up a little sometime but its not as bad as jared says, i think he is just trying to strike a nerve with u.

oh yea i just wanna mention something real quick, mom called today and said the computer wouldnt go online for the last few days and i diagnosed the problem over the phone and it turns out the you accidentily unplugged the wire and mom tells me that you wouldnt help her and told her to call one of us. you should prolly try helping her out a little expecially cause she is home sick and wants to check stuff online. i think u could figure it out that the wire was unplugged and if u cant then u should think about taking a course at the local tech school on computer networking (seriously) because it would def make u more well rounded.

I didn't think it was the wire because both of our computers went offline but then mine came back while hers didn't. I figured the computer was having problems reading it or that it was Comcasts problem again.

Good point about Jared not just following me. Glad you set him straight otherwise.
