Remix reveal!
My remixer still hasn't revealed herself (or himself). [ETA] It was dramaphile! dramaphile wrote the most amazing, dark, twisty remix of my first Heroes story! Impasse (Blank Canvas Remix). Go. Read. Feedback.[/ETA]

I wrote Years (The I Know Who I Want to Take Me Home Remix). The original is a drabble entitled "Years" by ximeria. It's the first story I've ever written in the Firefly fandom, and the first slash or implied slash story I've ever written, for all the slash I read, and it's a pairing that I wouldn't have ever 'shipped or read myself. I stepped way out of my comfort zone on this one. I had a metric fuckton of fun with it, though. Expect some meta about it later.

Movies
So, on Friday I went to see In the Land of Women. I have to say, I was expecting it to be kind of lousy, but I went because it was Adam Brody. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. It was really well-acted and really well-done, and his grandma is hilarious. I was definitely tearing up by the end. It definitely hit me where I live in terms of all of the mother/daughter relationships and the stuff that's going on with my family lately, but even beyond that it was a good movie.

And then Saturday I watched The Holiday. It's brilliantly casted, and I love all of the cameos. Plus it has Shannyn Sossamon, which reminds me of Devour, and that's just fucking hilarious. And as my father says, "Rufus Sewell always plays a schmuck." His character really, really is a schmuck. And I ♥ Kate Winslet, I really, really do.

But why is the entire movie beige? I don't think Cameron and Kate wear anything except beige, cream, and various shades of off-white for the entire movie, except for maybe a nice black or navy blue to mix things up. Try a red! Some pastels! A nice purple here or there never hurt anybody! You're all blending into the walls!

So while it was formulaic and predictable, it was also funny and entertaining. The cast really made up for it.

TV
After The Holiday, I watched Doctor Who. Hard to believe it's been nearly half a season. I don't know, guys. I mean, I liked it, and I like Martha, but it's just not giving me the same thrill as S2 did. Maybe it's because some of the Shiny New Fandom! has worn off, maybe it's... not because Rose is gone, but because of how Rose left, I guess. And this episode was just kind of a downer. The Doctor is alone in the universe, he misses Rose, Martha is trying so hard, and the stupid Daleks won't let him help them. OTOH, Captain Jack is coming back soon enough, and I think that'll more than make up for any meh I'm feeling now. And we did get a great Doctor Speech (TM). Tennant and his portrayal of the Doctor continue to impress me. And on a different note, who else thinks the tentacle things coming out of Dalec Sec's head looked like dildos?

Real life explosion
In addition to all of the crap with my grandmother that's been happening recently, a very close friend of mine who doesn't at all get along with her mother has been kicked out of her house. She will be moving in here probably tonight. I'm kind of excited but also kind of nervous, because it's going to be a huge change mostly for me and my personal space needs. OTOH, it'll be great practice for college. I think I'm really just going to have to wait and see how it turns out.

Things that are awesome:
-This icon. "Really pretty sure" FTW.
-The Science Channel. I saw this really cool program about the sun at like 2 AM today.
-The commercial I just saw for tourism in Nebraska. "There's more to Nebraska than you think."
-I just got my ears re-pierced! I had them pierced when I was ten but they closed up a few years ago. I literally just got them done half an hour ago and they look great.
