I swear, it never amazes me how even the poppiest 60;s music is just leagues above the schlock that passes for pop music these days. I'm immensly enjoying the Lovin' Spoonful right now. I just had a good dose of 60's LA rock via Love, Buffalo Springfield and the Byrds, so now I'm chilling out with the Spoonful and the lava lamp. Lord, I should be about 60 years old in this day and age.
In other news, I just saw "The Passion..." and was highly impressed on the whole. The theatre was packed and I had to sit on the second row, which gave me a slight headache. As far as the acting and the cinematography, it couldn't have been done any better. It was extrememly graphic as I expected which is appropriate, but that seemed to be the point of it, to make the audience realize the physical and mental anguish he went through. It starts in the garden of Gethsemene, so obviously the film works under the assumption that everybody knows the story, so i don't think the movie is as in-depth a look at his whole life as I was expecting. For example, there is little dialogue, and as far as his teachings, this was only barely touched upon and was done through flashbacks, and the ending was anitclimactic. I won't give that part away but it seemed too abrupt. I think I still prefer the old mini-series Jesus of Nazareth and may buy that dvd soon.
