The magic of Valentine

Feb 14, 2011 22:43

Yoseob always wonders how it truly feels to spend the Valentine day with someone or how it can be so special and different from other days or whether this day does have that so called magic that his sister always mentions with glee.  It’s not that he hasn’t spent Valentine before with someone. In fact, Valentine comes every year, so of course Yoseob does spend this special day every year as well ever since he’s old enough to know that the 14th day of February is actually the Valentine day. And he’s always spent this day with no one other than his best friend, Lee Kikwang.

The two always spend this day doing exactly all sorts of things his sister’s told him, from go watching some sappy movies while sharing a bag of popcorn and a cup of coke or having a romantic night in a cozy coffee shop in comfortable silence as the only sound can be heard is some sweet and soothing melodies coming from a grand piano somewhere in the shop, blending perfectly with the faint fragrance of their shared cup of warm cappuccino to strolling the crowded streets in sparkling beauty of the city of Seoul at night, hand in hand.

Yoseob always has so much fun just spending this day like this with Kikwang, but a part of him still feels that there’s something missing, the something that makes up the special magic of the Valentine day. And as a curious boy as he is, Yoseob yearns to find out that something to fully get a hold of that so called special magic.

So when Doojoon, his handsome and by-one-year older neighbor who just moves into his neighborhood a couple of months ago, tells him that he will show Yoseob the magic of Valentine day if he gives the older boy his hand-made chocolate, Yoseob immediately agrees even though he doesn’t like the other boy since he always has a weird feeling whenever he sees the older boy.

And even if Yoseob is taken back when he sees Kikwang’s hurt expression when he tells the younger boy they can’t spend their Valentine together this year, later when Doojoon kisses him under the starry night sky of Seoul, he thinks it’s all worth it.

The magic of the Valentine day doesn’t lie on what you do on this day. You can only feel it when two hearts beat as one.
