it is august seventh, which means it is my parents' anniversary. their twenty-eighth. huzzah and congrats! :)
we (my brothers, sister-in-law, and i) purchased them a combination blu ray and vhs player. so it plays tapes and dvds and blu rays -- pretty much anything my parents've got. some of us watched (or fell asleep to) the lion king earlier today, which is on vhs. the player brings it up to -almost- dvd quality. it's really quite cool.
my brothers and i are all together this weekend, which is becoming rarer and rarer these days, and so more treasured. i'm going out with luke & pete later tonight. steve's in a show this summer (chicago, to be precise), and tonight's the last showing (i saw it on wednesday -- really well done, although there's some controversy over the appropriateness of it for a youth theater group to be doing...)
i'm slowly moving into the new apartment. the previous tenants left a ton of stuff. and by "a ton" i mean, A TON. the manager says i can keep the couch & chair and, if they don't claim it in a month of so, anything else that they left.
my mom and mr & mrs r (and others) helped me move some of the big stuff (bed, dresser, etc) yesterday, and today pete helped me move some of the smaller stuff. we were going to make one trip with two cars, but his muffler and/or exhaust system decided to fall apart about a block from my parents' house, so we made two trips with my car.
things seem to be falling apart here lately: my parents' vacuum cleaner, dryer and lawn mower died a couple days after they just bought new furniture for the living room. appliances seem to have impeccable timing, don't they?
i'm about two-thirds of the way through treasure island. i like the story, but it's difficult to fall into the book. like, the book is interesting and all, but i'm almost always aware that i'm reading a book...
