Helena Kyle forced the third bucket of paint open, not closing it again like she had the others. Two rollers waited. Some of the kids had offered to help her, but she'd sent them out to play, at least for a little while. If she ended up needing the help, a couple of them would still be interested at least

"It looks great," Helena said, grinning at Joshua as she set down her roller, looking around the painted room. "You've been a major help. And I think I still owe you dinner. If you aren't sick of me yet."

"No. You'll have to try harder. Sure you still want pay, now that you've seen me eat?"

"As long as you're willing to take responsibility for my financial troubles if I can't fund the Center afterward," she teased.

"That sounds like a plan - that, or I could just pay."

[heaven_helps]

"I don't mind paying. Or we could split it fifty-fifty." She shrugged. While she watched her money, it wasn't like one dinner would break her, even with the way he ate.

"Actually, I'll be honest - my mother said I'd have to sleep in the garage if I let you pay. So I guess dinner's on me."

Helena couldn't help but laugh. "I'll be right back. I need to change." She motioned to her clothing, which she hadn't managed to keep clean, and then to a bag waiting in the room. "It'll take me just a minute or two."

"Okay, I'll amuse myself for a bit."

Thankfully, a change of clothes was all Helena felt she needed, rather than a shower. She arrived back in the room a few minutes later, abandoning her bag again. Now, she was dressed in nice black jeans and a pale gray blouse. "Much better," she said with a smile.

"You were fine before. This is good, too, though." He held the door open. "Where to?"

"If you're paying, it's only fair that you get to pick the restaurant," she said, smiling as she headed out the door.

"Hey, I'll eat anything. You pick, seriously."

"Do you like sushi?"

"Absolutely."

[heaven_helps]

"Sushi it is, then," she announced with a laugh.

"Great. Let's go."
