"That's quite all right," William said thinking fast "I've just realized that I promised my mum that I'd help her with the washing

At first, this made me really, really mad -- Elizabeth Turner the Pirate King STILL has to be saddled with stereotypical women's work?? And then I stopped, reread it, and burst out laughing instead. Good job at a cover story, Willie! The little pirate kid has to leave because he has to help his mother with the laundry. They'll never suspect you're lying with an awesome cover story like _that_.

William stiffened he knew that Ms. Madeleine had never been a pirate in her life. She hated piracy and always had. But she’d sure made off with the “Pirate Lord” title in a hurry!

So she hated piracy but she agreed to become a Pirate Lord WOT?? WHERE IS YOUR LOGIC?!?

"Elizabeth, where are the drinks that Mr. Carter ordered?" a voice asked as Madeleine Montague appeared in the doorway.

1.) Elizabeth Swann Turner, the King of the Pirates, is working at an inn??!

2.) ... somebody ELSE'S inn?!??!?

That reminds me of a Suefic that took place post-COTBP, where Will and Elizabeth are not yet married and she's still the governor's daughter...yet Will makes Elizabeth clean his room for him.

I wonder if that was more Elizabeth hate or plain stupidity. They tend to run together in the fandom

Yeah, I'm just thinking of when JK Rowling said that Neville Longbottom married a nobody and settled in above a bar.

That's DIGNIFIED compared to this silliness.

*laughs*

You know, it would actually be great if someone wrote a fic where Willie and a female OC of about his age went off and had some kid-appropriate adventures. Adventures where, you know, the canon characters don't only exist so that the Sue(s) can get brownie points for knowing them.

William stiffened he knew that Ms. Madeleine had never been a pirate in her life. She hated piracy and always had. But she’d sure made off with the “Pirate Lord” title in a hurry!

*bangs head against wall* 'Fraid that was my fault. It was one of my comments that I forgot to bold. It should have read:

William stiffened he knew that Ms. Madeleine had never been a pirate in her life. She hated piracy and always had. But she’d sure made off with the “Pirate Lord” title in a hurry!

...of course, since what I wrote holds true anyway, "Where is your logic?" is still a valid question if you ask me.
