Araeph has many computer woes, it is true. They'll all go away in about a week, when she goes back to college, but for now, you're getting a golden oldie.

By the way, I have for you an alternate ending to the sordid tale of Skylar James.

*snort* Everyone "smiles weakly" about eleventy-nine times in this fic! Couldn't the author at least have made it a bit more fun to read by misspelling it smile WEEKLY or something?

"I know I was going to spend so much time away from you and I wanted you to know who I am. So this is for you, my thoughts from the past eight years."

I bet Jack's documented "thoughts" for the past eight years will turn out to consist mainly of "I miss my beautiful wife and daughter blah blah blah". No wonder he died when his head was filled with Sueage rather than brain matter!

She walked up to it and saw an empty bottle of rum and a vile that was labeled "Laudanum" that was almost empty.

Oh look, Sue's mum committed Sue-icide. Muwahahha, not so much. And I think she means a VIAL. I was under the impression that the most common way for people, especially POOR people, to kick the bucket from under their own feet was by either hanging themselves or throwing themselves off a cliff or something. The suethor's inspiration for this suicide obviously came from Days Of Our Lives or some other hideous daytime soap opera.

"She wasn't suposed to do that." was that first thing Will had heard from her all day. He looked at he with suprise "Do what?" Abi looked at her hands "Kill herself. She is supose to be the strong one. She was suposed to always be there for me. She took the easy way out so she wouldn't have to feel the pain." she looked up at Will, not even a tear in her eye. "and she just left me with more."

Aww...what a very wise and grown-up thing to say for an eight-year-old girl. The child can't even read yet and already sounds like she has a Phd in psychology. Urgh.

Perhaps it's just me, but the mother using Laudanum to kill herself reminds me of "From Hell", in a very annoying way. First "Don Juan", now "From Hell"?! Leave Abberline alone, dammit! But perhaps it's really just me and I'm thinking a little bit too one-dimensional.^^ And you're right, I think it's really too much effort of the mother... hanging herself or jumping off a cliff would be much easier (and cheaper - did they have the money to buy Laudanum? Was ist even a poison back then? I always assumed it was used as medicine.)

And don't you also hate Jack's detailed journal of his boring, adventurous, exciting, dangerous piratical exploits? Luckily we don't have to read that but get this nicely done, absolutely in-character journal instead! It's such a heart-warming read, isn't it? *vomits*

Oh yeah, nicely spotted, didn't think about that myself. Should have realised that suethors will go to any lengths to include oh-so-speshul references from other Johnny Depp movies in their fics. I'm sure it makes them feel very clever and well-read!

Exactly. It just caught my eye, because the rest of the story just didn't sound as if she knew anything about Laudanum or the time at all. So, sensing Johnny Depp-references everywhere, it suddenly made sense to me: Perhaps she watched "From Hell"! And that made me think: Is she even old enough to be allowed to watch it? But then... they'll really do everything to show that they are really big fans of Johnny! (Not his work, mind you, but Johnny!!!1! Didn't he look sexy while taking Laudanum in the tub?*dreamy sigh*)

Annoying, it is. Just like calling Barbossa "Hector" all the time... so, why don't say mention Jack's syphilis sore while they're at all their "insider" references? Mhhh... *thinks about that some more*
