So ok, this one I just cut free hand loosely basing the armholes off another shirt,
BUT I intented the two sides in the front to be crossing over at the bottom, with about 5 rows of skinnnny elastic cinching it altogether at the waist (was trying to make something I saw on an auction) BUT I MESSED UP so i quickly brainstormed how to salvage my mess into something wearable. Love the poofieness and pirate esqe look!
This is what I need to learn, is how to grommet(?) those slits I made to lace up the middle.
This is what I love about sewing, I can create something that's in my mind that I don't see in a store.
And the best part? This dainty calico fabric was only 79 cents a yard...took what about half a yard for the shirt and about $1.00 in fabric crochet trim, .75 cents in buttons (no i haven't collected a huge jar full from a garage sale yet but watch out for summer!) and what maybe 10 cents in elastic? Much better sew job than Forever 21 could do (and that's not to flatter my sewing my any means) and it STILL cost less than a THRIFT STORE SHIRT! Because yea, my thrift store here in town is kind of steep!
Oh and let me not forget the cute skirt I made my daughter. It was a hit with the neighborhood girls her age so I was pleased!
