life update + art

So it's been awhile. And all's good here. Yesterday was a busy day for me with therapy in the morning and the day treatment intake interview in the afternoon. Both were valuable, but the real news here is that the day treatment program had some openings and I will be able to start next monday as opposed to mid-July as they said initially. I was completely relieved upon hearing this news and really feel like I have a guardian angel on days like these. This means I will get to go back to work a month earlier than initially thought and our finances won't be completely decimated--just a little. :) I still have to talk to my boss to see if I even still have a job but I'm thinking positive because if I start to doubt that I will be a basketcase. My road to wellness is starting to smooth out with the wonderful new psychiatrist that will hopefully adjust my meds again--it's been two years and it's never been quite right--this intensive day treatment program with all kinds of skills to help me cope with my anxiety, anger and everyday life as I deal with my disorder and the real corner stones: my amazing psychologist and g.p. Never have I felt so much gratitude for the number of people it takes to keep me well.

The curriculum of the day treatment course has many things I have already mastered in my own private therapy but I will be open to those segments regardless. Among the weekly blocks is art therapy which I found incredibly interesting as I started my own art therapy without realizing it. Painting has been an outlet for anxiety, boredom, jonesin' and ultimately creativity since I started a month or so ago. In fact, Nicole & I just completed an art deco triptych for over MIL's fireplace. Nic came up with the design and I did the painting once again. MIL has had this huge barren space above her fireplace since she moved in over a year ago and we filled it with these three paintings. We snuck over and borrowed some leftover wall paint so the painting would match her condo's color scheme as well as using some of my infamous oops paint collection to round out the color pallette. We went over last night and Nic hung the trio; we are expecting her home this morning--I am really looking forward to hearing if she likes it.

w/out flash--you can see the different colors better (curse of semi-gloss)

where love lives--unfinished--I like it in this incarnation a little more than the finished product. Inspired by "perfect blue buildings" by the Counting Crows which I have been listening a lot to lately.

Nic likes this version better which is good because I don't have a paint eraser. :)
