I didn't post the whole time I was in Minneapolis for spring break, which is bullsh*t, since I actually had leisure time. There were so many friend and family functions for Carey and I to attend, though, that when I had an hour or so to myself, I used it to do schoolwork, which by no means let up just because actual classes had. I still had reading for Complex Behavior Analysis and Child Behavior, I had to do independent research for Child Behavior because I am presenting a Powerpoint micro-lecture tomorrow in class, I had chapter 8 of Visual Basic to program (which I still haven't finished; my data collection file is still showing up chock-full of errors), a journal-style paper due Thursday with at least 8 peer-reviewed references and hypothetical data and graphs, quizes in both classes, and 30 Area Under the Curve graphs plus revised Results and Discussion sections for my practicum.

Every time I try to post about anything, I end up posting about how much work I have to do. Lame.

Minneapolis was great. Carey's immediate family had lots of extended family in town for Carey's grandmother's memorial, and we all pitched in and helped make it happen. It was very emotional but much more warming than depressing (although my capacity for making small talk is extremely limited, and older people always want you to talk about yourself, and I hate doing that). In addition to the memorial and three family dinners, we met up with Carey's friends almost every night, took Carey's nephews bowling as a birthday present to the youngest, and spent over 24 hours in the car. We decided to rent a car and drive between IL and MN because it was cheaper than flying, we wanted the time together, and we wanted to bring Greta along. The last 4 hours each way were kind of a drag, but otherwise we had lots of fun with road mixes, wedding planning, and Shamrock Shakes (YUM). I wish I'd gotten more school work done on the trip and that we could've spent some time in St Louis on either end, but otherwise, it was a really nice mini-break.

Spring in Southern IL is really beautiful. I have a weakness for Magnolia trees and sweater-no-jacket days, and this place has an abundance of both. My niece is growing at an amazing pace and my dad is very happy. I'm so glad I'm getting married this summer. Beyond all the stress of planning, I am just ELATED at the thought of having almost all of my dear ones in the same place at a small lakeside spot in New Hampshire, eating cake, drinking champagne, dancing, laughing, and committing to my dude.
