i love john, and john loves the folks in the corners.

John Mayer was amazing last night. Josh and I were in row 26 on the floor (I think I actually prefer concourse if I'm not in the first 10 rows or so at concerts, what with being 5'3" and all). Soulive opened and were very fun and got me in a party mood. John came out with "Vultures." I love the stage setup- the lights were really good for such a small stage. John seemed to be in a really good mood and talked a lot.

Here's the set list (yanked from his site):
Vultures
Good Love is On the Way
Why Georgia
I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You)
Waiting on the World to Change
Something's Missing
In Repair
Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
Belief
No Such Thing
Gravity

-- encore --
Your Body is a Wonderland
Wheel
Bigger Than My Body

Apparently this was the first time he'd played "Why Georgia" on this tour, and it sounded great. "In Repair" and "Gravity" were so good they made my heart ache, and "Bigger than My Body" was the perfect ending to a wonderful show.

My favorite quotes from the show:

"You all... or y'all, as you say down here."

"Why am I so arrogant? I feel really comfortable with y'all."

"It's a packed house... except the corners. I understand. Wanna go to the Mayer show? Sure, what seats are left? The corners. F that, let's watch Idol."

"I missed one week of American Idol and now to get caught up I have to watch like 9 hours of TV. I don't want to do anything for 9 hours."

"I love you, too, but I've got a girl..."

"The corners are probably safer, structurally speaking."

until next time,
