YAY! Paul and I finally bit the bullet yesterday and went car shopping. Getting up at 5 am every morning (earlier now that it's snowing) to drive Paul 40 minutes west to work, then turning around and driving back into town to drop Nathan off at daycare, then driving MYSELF to work 40 minutes north is getting old. VERY old. Things have been very tight here lately, with me just starting a new job and Paul working a temp job, but we decided that we needed a second car (besides, our van is 12 years old and needs a lot of work and is giving signs that it may not make it through the winter). So we went to a used car dealership and found "my baby." Tomorrow, I get to pick up my "new" red Subaru Outback. It's actually pretty fancy inside, including 6 CD changer, heated leather seats, etc., but it was rasonably priced and has low mileage. Best of all, the dealership is taking care of getting it insured, registered and inspected, so when I pick it up tomorrow, it's completely "legal" and driveabale. In celebration of (or rather, anticiaption of) a new car, we got Nathan one of his birthday presents a bit early - a new booster seat for the car. Actually, we really needed to, since he's way too tall for his current seat. He looks so grown up in his new seat, not to mention has much more range of motion. He can actually open the door in the Subaru WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING. I'll have to make sure that I always lock the doors when I get in (I didn't see anything on the sticker about the car having child locks.)
Work is going well, although I'm in the middle of a big project right now that's kind of driving me crazy. I have to sign, fold, stuff and address over 100 letters that we're sending to patients who haven't been in in awhile to get them to come in. I was given the list on Thursday afternoon and apparently, the letters are to go out on Tuesday. Apparently, the owner of the practice is under the impression that if we mail out the letters on Tuesday, that people will get them BEFORE Thanksgiving and ACTUALLY READ THEM AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT by the end of the week. (We're obviously closed on Thurs and Fri.) Ummmm ?!?!
Well, dinner's ready. Toodles.
