Is it possible to know the truth without challenging it first?

Hmm, an interesting question today. I don't know how to answer, but I'll try. I think truth is something so complex that it may not help to challenge it. On the other hand, it may be something so simple, once you know it, that there's no need to challenge it. With truth in a mundane context, in a crime case, for instance you can always try to find out more facts, and see if they form a coherent chain of events, and if there is a motive for someone to have committed the crime. If the perpetrator confesses, you have the truth, or at least you have the truth from his angle. Spiritual and emotional truths are more in the eye of the beholder, I think, and you can't really challenge something that exists only in the mind of another human being, because you obviuously only get a glimpse of it, no matter how much you try to understand. So, yes and no, depending on the truth:).
It's been a good day for me, in the sense that I finally got another translation to do. It's been months since the last one, and I had all but given up hope of getting another one from the same client. I'm thrilled, because it will help my economy, and besides, it's always good to keep your hand in, so to speak.
In sad news, the Mother Superior of our only Orthodox Christian convent here in Finland has been in a car accident, and she's in a coma. Another nun, who was also in the car, broke her arm in the accident. I hope and pray that the M.S. will survive, but there's no knowing. She is elderly, and much loved. I've never met her, but I've heard her talk, and seen some of her writings. It will be a sad loss to the convent, and to all us Orthodox Christians here in Finland, if such a person is taken from us. Summer is always a busy time for the convent, because lots of volunteers go there to help with the work. They have a garden, a souvenir shop, and a candle factory, which provides all the Orthodox (and some other) churches in Finland with votive candles. I've meant to go there for many years, but I never have the opportunity, since I can't afford to work as a volunteer, and to take the trip to Eastern Finland. I will go one day, though.
This has been a very hot day, I hope the weekend will be a little cooler. See you tomorrow!
