I think I've mentioned this before, but anyway: I studied French for three years in high school, but I never seem to need it, so the phrases I remember best are not the ones I learned at school, but the ones that crop up in movies and books. For some reason, I remember the phrases a croupier uses while operating the roulette. For example Faites vos jeux = Place your bets, Rouge, impair = Red, odd number, and Rien ne va plus = No more bets. I may say that I've never placed a single bet on the roulette, nor am I likely to, because gambling doesn't appeal to me. Anyway, I thought today about something I read in a Christie mystery, probably The ABC murders (read it, it's excellent!). Poirot was talking about how, until that point, luck had favoured the murderer, but, like at the roulette table, luck always turns at some point. However many times the ball lands on a black number, at some point it will land on a red one.
I've had a run of rather bad luck for some days (nothing big, just small, irritating stuff). Now it seems to be turning. Today I went to the library and found two good movies and a book, which is always nice. I also went shopping for an adapter, and I found one! I wasn't quite sure about it working, but luckily they have a return policy. It works, though, so now I have my lovely keyboard back in business again. The other one is ok, too, but it's a little loud, and it would have been such a shame to have to use batteries, which I think would run out in no time, for my own keyboard. This adaptor is a multi-purpose one, with adjustable voltages and multiple outputs, so it can double for other appliances as well. I'm really pleased:).
I also found some yarn and started knitting on a Christmas project, which I can't talk about here before after Christmas, and it started off very badly. I didn't seem to get a single pattern I tried to work (that's what I get for trying to be creative and apply a pattern instead of using a ready-made one, I guess). Finally, I settled on something that seems to work, and now I have many hours of rather boring TV knitting to look forward to. I just finished a lace project, so I'm really quite happy knitting something a bit more simple.
The thunderstorm never came, after all, it's been a splendidly sunny day. So, all in all, my luck seems to have turned, for now, anyway. I hope you're having a good week, too! See you tomorrow, when I'll be freeing my mind some more:).
