Let's do this

I'm blogging early for once, just to get this out of the way. And no, I don't have anything planned for later, except for reading about 100 pages of the book I'm going to tell you about on Monday. I don't know if I'll read that many pages, but it may turn out I'll read even more, because that book really is one of my all-time favourites.   It's not an easy thing, choosing 100 books that have "rocked my world". I never told you, did I, on what grounds I choose the books on that list? I'll tell you now, while I remember:
  • The novel/play/collection of stories must be one that I enjoyed reading the first time.
  • It must be something that is worth reading again.
  • I prefer books that are well-written in terms of language, even when the plot or characters are iffy.
  • I also love books that make me look at the world in a new way, and books that discuss moral issues.
This is all very subjective, I know, but the meme does mention books that rocked my world. I don't profess to be a good critic, but I really love reading, and I also love writing about what I read. It gives me the opportunity to process my reading, and also to segue into other subjects. It's such a joy for me to be on LJ and to find other devoted readers and share their reading experiences.
I have had a productive day so far. I cooked a lentil stew, trying a recipe out of my head, and although it could hardly fail very badly, since a ready-made tomato sauce was a main ingredient, I'm still happy with how it turned out. And the shawl I'm knitting out of the yarn left over from the socks is almost finished, and will be by tonight. I don't seem to have a fever anymore, so maybe it was just another scare. I'm not going to my parents'  tomorrow, so as not to infect them, because they are going to visit my cousin to see the baby, and no-one in that household needs to get ill right now.
Have a good weekend, and see you tomorrow!
