The Lloyd Dobbler factor

I don't know anyone who hasn't seen Say Anything and I don't know any girl who doesn't want a Lloyd Dobbler. If you think about it, the movie is actually very evil with it's depiction of the perfect man, giving hope to young girls and women across the land. I know it did for me. I would have been 13 when that movie came out and I truly thought men would be like Lloyd.

I think it caused more harm than good.

So like I mentioned before, I'm reading this book Why Girls are Weird and if you're a girl and have a journal, I highly recommend it. There is no bad. The author, Pamela Ribon, has done this, knows what she's talking about, understands the thrills and spills of it all. Plus, there are Lloyd Dobbler references. Not that it was the only reason I bought the book but it sure did help. This man e-mails her with the handle of LDobler and you instantly think, he'll be perfect but still have flaws. But he'll love her like she's never been loved and will stand by her like no one else ever had. And then you read...

I've asked you this before but you didn't answer. What does LDobler stand for? Because right now it means "Lloyd Dobler", John Cusack's character from Say Anything. If that's that's what you're going for, then you're clearly after my heart. Lloyd Dobbler is the perfect man.

...and you realize that the idea of Lloyd has spread like an epidemic. And you suddenly find yourself worried for women everywhere who have been living with the idea of Lloyd for years and years.

I still believe that I will meet my Lloyd one day. I still hold onto hope even if my arms are growing weaker as the days go on.

However, the ever present pessimist in me knows that he'll still end up with Diane, who really didn't deserve him. But, then again, would anyone deserve Lloyd and his perfectness?
