Congress shall kiss my fringe-religion ass.

Congress would like you to know that "Christianity is the religion of over three-fourths of the American population", and "the largest religion in the world". Congress would like you to know that (in case you weren't aware) "Christians identify themselves as those who believe in the salvation from sin offered to them through the sacrifice of their savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and who, out of gratitude for the gift of salvation, commit themselves to living their lives in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Bible".

The House of Representatives "expresses continued support for Christians in the United States and worldwide".

Yep, that's what we call CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION, folks.

Have a look at this pathetic excuse for statecraft, pointed out to me by morrigandaughtr. That explains why the government suddenly decided we should have Xmas eve off as a paid holiday.

FUCK YOU CONGRESS. So much for It's A New Day In America, All Hail The Democratic Controlled Congress, Who Is Going To Charge In To Washington And Clean Things Up. Did you know that more Democrats voted for this than Republicans? Yup. Look it up right here: http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/110/house/1/votes/1143/
(Also, I'll have you know, more Geminis voted for it than any other sign. Don't ask me why you can look it up by astrological sign.)

This is my favorite part, right here: "(5) rejects bigotry and persecution directed against Christians, both in the United States and worldwide".

You poor, persecuted Christians. The awful bigotry you must suffer from soulless non-Christians who refuse to support you making your religion into the official state religion of the country. Such terrible bigotry and persecution you must be suffering in the United States, that you can succeed in passing such a resolution without being summarily thrown from office, tarred and feathered in the streets.

politics, religion, rants
