Tom hadn’t heard from Andrej in over a week when he suddenly got a phone call directly from Andrej, which he didn’t expect. He had given the model his number but he still figured he would call David instead.

“Look, I’ve been told they sent the paternity test results to your manager earlier. I know what they’ll say but I thought you would want to make sure,” he said softly.

Tom sighed. “Alright, I’ll call him. Why do you sound like that?” he asked curiously, shifting his phone to grab the leashes so that he could get the dogs and take them for a walk. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah, just tired. A doctor told me it’s fine for me to keep running but it really wears me out now. I’m starting to get fat-fat, not just baby bump. I’ve never gained weight in my life, I’ve always been very underweight, you know?” Andrej said softly.

Tom cringed. “I can imagine. I’m the same way. I work out to bulk up, but I don’t have much fat on me. Bill’s weight gain was the only time he was closer to normal weight. But then we started smoking and he lost tons, so he’s as thin as you.” He went to find the dogs and laughed when he found them all jumping around Bill. “Look, I’ll call you back once I’ve checked on the results, then we’ll see about paying your bills and such,” Tom said, and Andrej sighed.

“Thanks, Tom. I haven’t said it before, but I really need this money. I’m sorry I was such a jerk last time, but I was really sick and annoyed then. When I got back home and got more comfortable and finally stopped puking, I felt like shit,” he admitted, and Tom chuckled.

“Well, you didn’t get that way on your own, I may not be the most responsible person in the world, but it isn’t like I don’t have money to make it easier on you.” He paused. “Provided it’s my baby, anyways,” he added.

Andrej chuckled. “It is your offspring, as you’ll find out soon enough.”

Tom chuckled. “Alright, I’ll call you back later,” he said in parting, hanging up a moment later.

Tom felt ridiculously embarrassed as he sat beside Bill, who was ignoring him, across from David’s desk, while Gustav and Georg sat on either side of him and Bill. “So,” David said, starting their ‘meeting’ he had called. “Someone, I won’t say who at the moment, has gone and got himself a child on the way,” he said, and Tom rolled his eyes when everybody shot him differing looks at the news. Bill looked pissed, Georg looked shocked, and Gustav looked amused. David just looked disappointed in him.

“Why are you all looking at me first?” Tom asked, and Bill spluttered.

“Because it is you, idiot! And if Georg had a child on the way, we’d all be really happy for him and his girlfriend, and Gustav’s gay,” he said, and Gustav gaped.

“I AM NOT!” he defended, then glared. “You’re the gay one-“

“Well, Tom got a man pregnant, so really that could still work,” David said, and Gustav and Georg froze.

“Uh… come again?” Gustav tried and Tom cringed.

“He’s right. Sort of,” he admitted and Georg burst out laughing, drawing everybody’s confused glances.

“YOU are the gay one!” he cried, doubling over in his seat.

Tom sighed. “No, I was the drunk one,” he said, and Gustav shot him a flat look.

“Too drunk to notice you were fucking a man?” he asked skeptically.

David chuckled. “Well, to be honest, I met him and I didn’t know it was a man until Tom showed up and accused him of lying. I honestly thought ‘holy shit this girl is way too hot to have slept with Tom’-“

“Hey, I only sleep with hot girls,” Tom said, then cringed. “And boys apparently,” he said, and Bill snorted.

“I still can’t believe you passed our DNA on to fucking Andrej Pejic’s bastard child,” he said, glaring. “Andrej. Pejic. That skinny little slut-“

“Bill, we’ve had this discussion,” Tom interrupted. “Anger doesn’t make it go away-“

“No, you’ve still got the hots for him!” Bill accused, and Tom scoffed.

“He’s pregnant and he has a dick!” he argued. “I have just accepted the reality of this situation and you still expect me to tell him to suck it and then pretend this never happened!”

“Boys, stop,” David said, glaring at them both. “So yes, now we all know, Tom fucked up and fucked the wrong guy and now there is a mini-Tom in some model’s tummy now,” he said, and Gustav snickered.

“We all knew it would happen sooner or later,” he pointed out. “Nobody gets that lucky!”

Georg hummed. “So, are we all screwed now? Attention seeker going to make us look bad again after two years of peace?” he asked, and David shrugged.

“He claims not. He claims he just wants enough money to pay his medical bills and for us to keep it quiet-“

“Bullshit,” Bill said flatly, and Tom sighed.

“It isn’t, Bill. He hates asking me for money! He has more pride than even you, and you’re one of the most stuck up people I’ve ever met,” he pointed out viciously. “Andrej just wants me to pay his medical bills and child support if he decides to keep the baby. He just needs help,” he said with a shrug. “Hell, I offered to give him more money to pay his bills with since it’s half my fault he can’t work, but he refused to take handouts for something that isn’t my problem-“

“None of this should be your problem, Tom!” Bill argued. “You aren’t pregnant. He is. Sure, pay him off, but stop getting involved! Someone will find out the more involved you are. You already went out in public with him once, that’s bad enough-“

Tom glowered. “He is PREGNANT, Bill! It isn’t something I can just pretend isn’t happening-“

“He has a point, Tom,” Gustav said and everybody stared at him in varying degrees of shock. “Now, I don’t agree with him,” he assured, “but you could easily shove this under a rug and never think about it again. I like to think you aren’t that much of an asshole, but it doesn’t have to be your problem. I think Bill is a self-centered jerk about the whole situation-“ Bill gasped. “But he isn’t a wrong self-centered jerk.”

Tom shook his head. “Only I can’t, okay? I don’t LIKE this, but I can’t pretend I don’t realize the gravity of the situation. No matter what I pretend, I’ll always have the knowledge that somewhere out there, there is a kid with my DNA, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I can’t go a day without thinking ‘oh yeah, Andrej is pregnant with your child’ and it’s seriously fucked up. I can’t just… NOT help the guy out, you know?” he said, shrugging. “Most likely he’s going to give it up for adoption, so after it’s born there won’t be anything else for me to have to give or do for him and the child, but it doesn’t change that I’ll always know it. If he’d never told me, that would be one thing, but he did, and unless I get hit really hard in the head or end up having Alzheimer’s as an old person, I’m not going to forget that.”

Gustav chuckled. “Well yes, but your head isn’t stuck up your ass like Bill’s is-“

“CAN WE STOP INSULTING ME?!” Bill cried, glaring. “I don’t see why all of you are so calm-“

“Bill,” Tom said gently. “I love you more than anything in the world, but your view of the world is so narrow you don’t see anything outside of- to be honest- this room,” he said, gesturing to the five of them. “You barely remember we have parents, so nobody blames you for being a stuck up jerk, it’s all you’ve ever known, but you’re still stuck up and a jerk,” he said without shame.

Bill just glowered and crossed his arms with a huff, ignoring the rest of them as they started talking about what it could mean if the news did somehow get out.

Andrej couldn’t describe how ashamed he was to have to call Tom, but it was his last hope. When Tom answered, he could barely speak without his voice cracking around the massive amounts of pride he had swallowed.

“Hi, Andrej.”

“Hi Tom,” Andrej said, then took a deep breath, swallowing hard. “Um… I kind of need some help,” he said weakly.

Tom hesitated and Andrej feared for a moment he would say no. “Alright, what do you need?”

Andrej picked up the pamphlet and looked at it as he spoke, remind himself why he was doing this. “I got… well, there was a minor complication, nothing serious, but I got dizzy and fainted again. They determined I was fine, nothing wrong, but it scared the doctors so they’re referring me to the prenatal ward at this hospital in Los Angeles. They want me there for about two weeks to do some testing,” he said, then took a breath. “I can’t- I can’t afford to pay for a hotel room for two weeks,” he all but whispered.

“What do you want me to do?” Tom asked, and Andrej rolled his eyes.

“I sort of need you to pay for the hotel room in addition to the medical bills,” he said softly. “I’m sorry to ask so much, but I can’t-“

“Andrej, look, I don’t have a problem paying for it as long as it’s related to your medical bills,” Tom interrupted. “Stop being so damn proud and just ask me for things if it’s about the pregnancy-“

“Damn it, I don’t like having to!” Andrej snapped, then covered his mouth, paling. “I’m sorry, I just… I’ve never liked relying on other people. I know I don’t exactly work very hard for my money, but I’ve been financially responsible for myself since I was seventeen and this is… horrible. I never even called my mum for money when I was just starting out and got short, I just made it as best I could until I could do it myself-“

“I understand, Andrej, but this time you aren’t just doing it for yourself, you know?” Tom said and Andrej groaned. “Look, I’m sorry but this is just how it is, okay? I’ll pay for whatever you need, just ask!”

“Look, just…” Andrej shook his head. “Make me a reservation, please? Then give me the information. It will be for next Monday until the Sunday two weeks after.”

“Was that so hard?” Tom asked, and Andrej hung up on him as his face burned.

When Andrej came out of the airport with Tom’s bodyguard carrying his bags, Tom was surprised, as he watched from the car, to see a few people stop Andrej and take pictures of him. He was hiding in a giant sweater, but even then, Tom expected him to refuse photographs.

Andrej seemed surprised to climb into the back seat and find Tom already there. “Oh! You’re here,” he said, then smiled as the bodyguard climbed into the passenger seat. “Thank you, Hans,” he said and the man nodded. “Your bodyguard is very sweet,” he said to Tom, who chuckled.

“I’m surprised you were letting someone take a photo of you,” he said, and Andrej sighed.

“I do have fans, actually. I’ve gotten so much attention for the way I look so people recognize me. Models don’t usually have fans, but I do,” he said, shrugging. “I think my sweater covers my belly, mostly,” he said, looking at it. “I’m not huge, but now I would clearly not be ‘just a little heavy’,” he said, sighing.

Tom chuckled. “You’re so skinny it stands out,” he agreed, looking at the way his belly showed as the sweater bunched up on top of it. “So, you said complications, what is it?” he asked.

Andrej shrugged. “When I fainted they got really worried, but they said it’s fine. I just am such a high risk since I’m a man and all. They want to really check me out and this hospital here is supposedly one of the best for prenatal care.” He looked up. “My first appointment is in an hour and a half, so we sort of need to go straight there,” he said, and Tom nodded.

“That’s fine,” he said, then glanced over. “So… how have you been?” he asked.

Andrej sighed. “Well, I haven’t been puking anymore, which is great. I’m just very hungry now,” he said, pouting dramatically. “I’m getting fat.”

Tom laughed, but honestly, he couldn’t take his eyes away from Andrej’s face. He was beautiful. Sure, the man was gorgeous before, but there was definitely something about him that made him absolutely breathtaking. Tom wanted to slap himself when the first thing that popped into his head was that Andrej kind of looked like how he would imagine an angel looked. To distract himself, he continued the talking. “So, have you told your mother?” he asked, and Andrej groaned.

“No, and the longer I wait the worse it will be, but I just… I want to make a decision first. If I’m not going to keep it, I might not tell her at all,” he admitted.

Tom nodded. “Are you still thinking adoption?” he asked, and Andrej paused.

“I don’t know,” he said honestly. Tom raised an eyebrow and Andrej sighed. “It’s… I can feel it moving,” he said in a low voice, looking down at his middle. “They said I might, but it’s like… little flutters sort of. It makes it harder to ignore that this is a real, live child in there.” He shrugged. “I always wanted children. Always. It’s not a matter of hating kids, it’s a matter of me being twenty,” he stressed. “So I’m not sure anymore. I guess I’ve got a little time to decide, you know? I’m not half way for another two weeks.”

Tom nodded. “Yeah, my brother doesn’t seem to understand why I keep helping you rather than just giving you money to shut you up,” he said, and Andrej raised an eyebrow.

“And why is that?” he asked curiously.

Tom shrugged. “I know about it. I mean, I can ignore it all I want, but I’ll always have the knowledge that I’m a father. I may as well acknowledge you and make sure you’ve got enough money for the things you need, not just shove you out of the way, don’t you think?”

Andrej smiled. “You’re actually a pretty decent human, Tom Kaulitz. I’m surprised.”

Tom chuckled. “Well, let’s just say I see more of the world than my brother. It isn’t his fault, we’ve never had any reason to pay attention to anything that doesn’t involve us, but he probably doesn’t even know who the president of America is,” he said and Andrej chuckled.

“And yet you LIVE here,” he teased, and Tom smiled.

“That’s my brother, for you,” he said, shrugging. “Although he’d probably be nicer if he didn’t hate you. Apparently he was meant to be in the headlines of the fashion world but you stole his thunder or something. I don’t know, I don’t really care, honestly,” he said, and Andrej nodded.

“He was the ‘star’ who was getting into modeling and then just as he was starting to gain more interest, suddenly here I am bursting onto the stage, the newest thing to drool over. I’m sure it’ll die down now that I’ve stopped accepting contracts, but it was nice while it lasted,” he said sadly.

Tom bit his lip and ducked his head. “Sorry,” he said, and Andrej waved a hand.

“Nothing to do about it, so I may as well just accept it.”

When they got to the hospital, Andrej had them pull to the main entrance, claiming he could find his way to the proper building in the complex on his own. When he started to get out, Tom jumped out and walked around to offer him his hand and help him out of the car. “Here, you can’t have the best balance,” he said, and Andrej laughed.

“Definitely not,” he said, allowing Tom to help him. “Thanks,” he said, smiling. He bit his lip and looked down as he got a crazy idea. “Um…” he sighed, rolling his eyes as he looked up. “Look, I know this is stupid, and you’ll probably say no, but… do you…would you maybe…” he sighed and shook his head. “Do you maybe want to come with me?” he asked.

Tom froze, shocked by the question. “Um, I-“

Andrej flushed. “Sorry, I know, it’s stupid, you just seemed interested, and I’m by myself so it’s awkward and-“

“Sure,” Tom said, nodding decisively. “I mean, I am interested and this way if there’s any questions about the billing and stuff, I can answer, so-“

“Exactly!” Andrej said, smiling awkwardly. “Um, thanks, really, I just don’t want to go alone,” he admitted bashfully. “Nicky comes with me back in New York, so-“

“I understand,” Tom said, then stepped back, allowing Andrej to lead the way as they headed into the hospital to try and find their way to the right ward.
