WXG recap post (HOLY SHIT this year was EEEPPIICCCC)
So, WXG 15 was this weekend, and as most of you know, it is something I look forward do for AGES before it goes down. (I'm a bigger fan of WXG than the summer games) SO, this year, I was excited to see what the sports have all stepped up to, and the answer was BIG!
We saw some of the gnarliest tricks thrown and some killer action going down in Aspen. Here are some of the highlights (in no order):
One of my very favorite snowboarders, Louie Vito's killer run that won him bronze on the Superpipe finals:
Dude, he KILLED it. Three doubles in ONE run?!? That was so sick.
Kelly Clark's victory lap, already having won the Gold, where she lands the FIRST 1080 in a women's superpipe competition:
This chick is SICK. She's one of the best of the best, dude.
Rookie Alex Schlopy nails a MASSIVE switch 1440 and wins Ski big air:
Daniel Bodin wins Gold in Snowmobile best trick with a MASSIVE double grab backflip:
.... also notice all the fun innuendo-esque things he says and TRY not to giggle, lmao.
Super dramatic women's skier X final with a massive crash that injured both Gold and Silver, though they were both mostly okay after they walked it off:
KILLER trick from Caleb Moore, the first guy to ever throw the carolla with a no-handed lander:
He was ROBBED. I mean, yeah, NO denying Bodine's double grab backflip was KILLER, but going by simply the score, a trick ONLY he's done should've TOTALLY been higher than a 90.33... what more CAN you do without dying than that one?!?
NOW, the three most epic moments of the competition:
Shaun White's Gold medal run in superpipe after FAILING TO QUALIFY for slope style finals this year:
Okay, so maybe people are getting sick of Shaun White being so good, but the fact of it is, he just IS, okay? You can't hate talent, guys.
Torstein Horgmo pulling the FIRST. EVER. competition triple cork, being the ONLY person to land one before this, AND doing it with broken ribs, no less:
Seriously, that is a moment for history, my friends. If you saw it live you lived a moment in history.
AND! The MOMENT of the games... Remember the whole 'Caleb Moore was robbed' thing I said earlier? Well, apparantly, his younger brother Colton thought so to, so on his final run... well let's just all watch what went down:
I saw this one live, not recorded like the other nights and oh. my. God... Honest to God, one of the moments where you throw your hands up and scream at the TV with "HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT!!!!" and "SIIIIICCCKKKK!!" It was THE sickest shit of the entire weekend and It was basically just a big F-you to the judges and a good show trick for these two brothers who are actually usually ATV riders from Texas.
