This is Home
“Quinn, are you ready?” Rachel’s voice drew the pretty blonde’s attention away from the mirror. Turning her head she spotted the shorter girl by the door, hands on her hips in a very Berry manner while she tapped her foot against the hardwood floor of their room.
Quinn rolled her eyes, turning her attention back to the mirror and carefully put the hairclip neatly in place in her now short hair. She stood to her full height, smoothing her clothes before turning back to Rachel.
“Listen man-” she paused, flinching at the hurt that quickly crossed Rachel’s face. Though she and Rachel were friends now, some old habits die hard, “Listen Rachel just because you want to see Remy doesn’t mean you have to rush me to this thing. It is not even that far. It is right in the back yard of the mansion. I really don’t think you need me holding your hand.”
Rachel sighed as she began to fidget in place, playing with the end of her skirt. “I know that Quinn. It is just this is all still new to me. I know the others are fitting in well here but I feel like its McKinely all over again.”
Taking the last few steps to Rachel, Quinn engulfed the smaller girl in her arms. “None of that Rachel, I don’t like to see this sad and depressed Rachel. I only want to see the confident, knows what she wants Rachel, got that? This is home now, Rach. Now let’s go before Santana decides to make an appearance, she is hundred times worse when she’s trying to get you to go somewhere.”
The blonde-haired woman was relieved when the brunette laughed at her statement, returning her hug before they linked arms and left the room.

Quinn could only explain the scene outside in one word: chaos. Everyone who lived in the mansion was outside doing one activity or another. Powers were being used against each other in playful ways, while the teachers tried to calm some of the students down. Rachel only tightened her hold on the blondes’ arms as they ventured forward.
It brought a smile to Quinn’s face at how well the other Gleeks were handling everything. It seemed like only yesterday when they were at Sectionals and just discovering the true hidden talents within themselves. Then they met with various members of the X-Men team to help provide answers to the seemingly endless questions they all had. Some of the fought against it (herself included) until they realized this was how things were now. They just needed to understand what was happening to them and control it.
“Cherie! There ya are. Remy knew he’d find ya,” the Cajun-accented voice interrupted her thoughts as the man made his way to them. Sparing a quick glance to Rachel, whose cheeks were tinted a light pink as she bowed her head. “Hope you don’t mind Q if I steal the girl for a minute or two?” the Cajun asked, not once looking at her as he smiled at the blushing brunette.
“Not at all. Steal away Remy,” she gently pried her arm from Rachel’s surprisingly strong (though this did explain her ability) grip. Rachel’s head whipped to her the moment they last contact and Quinn could only smile as she quickly retreated before the other girl could attach herself to her once more. Remy took his chance and steered the brunette after a friendly nod to Quinn.
Alone, Quinn wrapped her arms around herself scanning the crowded backyard for her other friends. They were all laughing and having a wonderful time with many of their new teammates.
“Why don’t you join them?” A voice said from beside her as a hand landed gently on her shoulder.
An electrically current escaped her before she could help herself and the man yelped in pain, quickly removing his hand. She whirled around to face him, surprised to see Scott Summers holding his scolded hand.
She scowled at him and hissed, “You should know better than to sneak up behind me.”
The man chuckled, “I should but,” he shook his head and smiled, “you look beautiful Quinn.”
Returning the smile, she tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear, “Thank you Scott.”
He nodded, “are you enjoying the picnic?”
“Well considering I just arrived, I can’t say that I am,” she gave a sly smile.
“I can see why. We have plenty of things to keep everyone entertained.”
She nodded, “I can see that and it looks like plenty of things that will lend to lack of control.”
The older man sighed, “Yes, we’ve already had some accidents.”
Before Quinn could open her mouth to tease him further, Rachel returned, an excited smile on her lips. “Quinn, Scott! Remy has graciously saved us a picnic table. We should hurry and eat; we’d like to challenge the two of you to a game.”
She gave neither a chance to reply, using her strength to her advantage, Rachel grabbed them by the wrist and pulled the pair towards the Cajun. Stealing a glance to the older man, Quinn mouthed an apology for Rachel to which he shrugged with a laugh. Quinn’s smile grew at the sound. He made her special and safe, as if she was home, and the more time she spent in his presence the more at home she fault.
