Different

Smallville kind of reminded him of Forks. It wasn’t a big town. It was cute, small and every one seemed to know one another. It felt very welcoming. He was happy he tagged along with Lana, even though their was no really choice in the matter. He had imprinted on Lana Lang and wherever she decided to go he’d follow. Though he was surprised when she didn’t freak out when he had told her about their connection. She had just smiled and told him a lot of things had happened to her in the past and she was no longer surprised by the abnormal. He was curious by what she meant but Jacob didn’t push her, he knew she’d tell him when she was ready.

Either way he was getting off track. He rather liked most of Lana’s friends. They had welcomed him with open arms. Chloe made him laugh with her cheerfulness. Though he could just barely make out the smallest hint of resentment in Clark Kent’s eyes, the farm boy greeted him and treated him like a younger brother. He also had strong feeling that Lex Luthor would have happily pushed him off the tallest building, not that it would do much against him, had he the chance.

The bald man was nice enough but every time he talked Jacob couldn’t shake off the feeling that he had some ulterior motive. Lex seemed to have a thing with touching Lana whenever given the chance. He knew Lana didn’t care for him that way and she probably that it just a friendly brush, the look in Luthor’s eyes said otherwise.

So as Lex’s hand flittered around Lana’s exposed arm, Jacob couldn’t take much more. His inner wolf was growling and right now, he didn’t need his new friends seeing him explode into a massive wolf. Instead he excused himself from his current conversation with Clark and marched over to Lana.

As though to make a point, Jacob wrapped an arm possessively around Lana’s waist. The pretty dark haired girl giggled as he drew her close against him, his warmth radiating from him. Jacob gave his most charming smile as Lex gave the briefest of glares.

"I have to say Lex, you throw a rockin' Christmas party.”

Lex gave a nod, “I’m glad you approve.”

Jacob smiled toothily, give Lana’s waist a nice squeeze to taunt the bald man. A clear sign for him to lay off. Lex looked away for a moment and scowled, “You’ll have to excuse me.” Without another word Lex disappeared within a sea of people. A triumphant smile appeared on his lips, only to disappear a second later.

“Ouch! What was that for?” He looked down at the girl he dwarfed.

“That was mean.”

Jacob looked as innocent as possible, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

She snorted cutely, “I’m sure.”

“Dance with me?” Jacob tugged her towards a makeshift dance floor. There was really no point in trying to argue anymore. Lex was gone, for the moment at least, so his wolf was calm.

Lana smiled, “Only if I get to lead.”

Jacob laughed and gave a nod. Christmas away from his pack wasn’t a bad thing. Not at all.

End.
