Tonight's rehearsal had gone much better than the last week's. When she'd been singing on her own, she warbled all over the place. Each note was in tune, but not always from the same vocal range. Some humiliating snickers from the other members of the chorus and gentle re-instruction had turned her performance around this week

Humming the last song we rehearsed, I leave through the back door, jacket slung over one shoulder and briefcase in the other hand. As I round the opera house, I notice Moira standing out front.
"I hope that smile means you don't regret joining the choir?"

She considers him a moment and offers, "I was thinking of getting a bite at the restaurant in the hotel... would you care to join me?"

Do I want to go somewhere for dinner? It's not what I had planned, but... "If you allow me to drop off my humble belongings at my room first."

She finds the 'humble belongings' a curious phrasing, but nods. "Of course." She falls in beside him.
