The upheaval in the village had, ironically, driven River outside. She'd missed a bit of a thrill, the Doctor (all incarnations) gone, and her parents and Daniel. Life was a bit bland was all. Monsters always helped with that. It was like old times even if she was on her own.
She was an explosion of vitality in the greyish day, dressed in warm shades of brown and her hair a fiery halo around her as she walked to the cafe for a cup of tea. She looked very much alive, even if she felt a bit stifled still.
And she was unfortunately not paying enough attention to where she was going as she bumped into a bystander on the street.
She noticed the slight flex of his hand, and the weapon now that she saw him good and proper and arched a brow. She didn't comment though, goodness knew she was armed. You just couldn't see her weapon.
"Unpardonably rude of me really," she disagreed with him. "But I've been told I'm a bit of a force to be reckoned with, never quite so literally."
Carl was again keeping his gun close at his side at all times. After this weekend it became clear that this place had the potential to be no safer than home. He hadn't left the hotel much, watching over Will and his dogs, although he'd tried not to make it overtly obvious that was what he was doing.
He'd gotten lunch from the sub shop, one for Will too if he wanted it, sitting at the kitchen table he savored each bite, wondering if something might happen here again that would make such things as a sandwich a luxury.
When he let himself into the room, Will set down his keys and double-checked his gun again to make sure the safety was off. He set it next to his keys.
Squatting down, he ruffled the dogs' fur, finally smiling a little bit. "I'm back," he said, in case Carl was here.
"In the kitchen! Got you a sub sandwich, if you want it. Italian." Carl called back, settling down in his chair, after the initial tensing at the sound at the door.

"Oh dear, I am sorry."

His gaze flickered to her and away again. "It's all right," he said quietly.

He made his way into the kitchen, pulling out the chair to sit. "Are you all right?" he asked.
