The grocery store served as endless fascination for Jace. He never ate much; he was never hungry. But the kinds of food that were available caused him to wander the aisles without a cart, his hands in the pockets of his jacket, occasionally stopping to pick something up and look at it, perhaps smell it, then set it back down and move again. He wore ( Read more... )

Liz was doing some of her own shopping since the fridge was getting really low. She normally didn't let it get so bad, but she had been distracted with school.

She had a cart and in it were simple things. There was hardly anything of indulgence in the cart save a box of Oreo cookies. Liz was practical in nature.

She reached for a carton of eggs and opened it to check their quality. The eggs seemed good so Liz moved to put the carton in the basket. Only when she turned she felt a sharp pain rush through her arms and her grip loosened just long enough for the carton of eggs to fall to the ground. A little bit of yellow began to seep from the bottom of the Styrofoam.

(ooc: Feel free to tag with whichever one you'd like ^__^ Liz was saved/healed by an alien and because of such, is suffering from some side effects that has actually altered her biology a little, but she has no idea of this yet)

Looking over from where he was scrutinizing the package of something called "go-gurt," Jace watched the eggs fall, his gaze then trailing up to the one who dropped them. It didn't occur to him to help, since there didn't seem to be an imminent threat. A long pause occurred before he uttered, "are you all right?"

Liz bent down to pick up the mess. She felt a little hot as if the temperature in the store had increased a few degrees in a matter of second. When she heard someone speak, she glanced up. "Oh... I'm fine." Except she did look a little flushed. "I'm just a bit klutzy, I guess."

She offered a small smile to help back up her statement. though it was weak.

"Somewhere a hen is wailing with loss," Jace replied, still not moving. "I doubt you need to clean that up - there have to be workers here for that sort of thing."

Red came around the corner with her own shopping cart, not really paying attention to the others in the aisle. Her attention was focused on whether to pick Betty Crocker Mississippi Mud Supreme Bar mix or Chocolate Chunk Brownies. She had both boxes in hand, mentally flipping a coin when she looked up and saw Kili.

She smiled, "perfect timing, which sounds better?" Red held up both boxes.

She was so pretty that it took his breath away for a moment before he focused on the task at hand. Frowning, he took in both, and said, "I do not wish to eat mud," he finally decided.

"Chocolate Chunk it is." Red put the other package back and then got a really good look at Kili's cart. Her eyes crinkled with her grin. "I see you found some good stuff, too."

"These!" He rummaged about, pulling out a package. "Are called Moon Pies! They seem to involve the moon!"
