Anna had noticed a change, but she hadn't said anything yet because she knew Castiel was dealing with the news. She took her own frustrations out productively in the park practicing with a human sword as she had no real access her an angel one. She had a templar sword which she thought was a little ironic.
When she finished, she went to grab her water and noticed there seemed to be a second sword. Weird, she noted, but the village was like that sometimes.
Anna was on her way back to the room with two swords when she saw Castiel. It only took her a minute to react.
"Heads up." Castiel had the butt of a sword tossed in his direction.
Castiel obviously caught it, or he would be a sad excuse for an angel. He did look a little surprised though, blinking as he wondered what Anna was doing in the park with two swords.
Well, he did need it, though she wasn't quite the sparring partner he was looking for. Not that he would ask Balthazar. Maybe Aaron...
He smiled wryly and shrugged. Fighting was fighting, though he would likely go easy on her in her human state.
"I promise to behave myself." Anna had taken to practicing about a year ago. She might be human but she remembered being a warrior angel and like Castiel, Anna occasionally felt the need to use her skills. She was, of course, not as fast or strong as she was in her original state.
To comply with Castiel's wishes, Anna took a few steps away from where the bees were mostly gathered. She raised the sword in a defensive stance. These swords were perhaps less maneuverable than an angel sword, but Anna liked the challenge of it.
He was sure she was good at it; Cas had no doubt of her skill. Besides, she had an advantage because she was more used to such a sword anyway. He felt it in his hand, the weight obviously different than his own angel blade, but the balance of it was nice.
He stepped closer to her, away from the bees, then went to take a swing, slow first to see how it felt.
It was hard not to appreciate how Castiel looked with a sword. Even though Anna never wanted him to have to fight, they had history on the field and she could appreciate it. A gentle smile settled on her lips.
When he swung the sword, Anna blocked. It felt nice to finallly have a partner. She swung at him from the opposite side once sh had blocked.
"Oh no, I wouldn't ever." He spoke as he blocked her swing, only half lying. Cas smiled wryly at her. "That was practice."
This time he swung back at a much more normal force, for a human anyway. They hadn't sparred since she'd Fallen, so he wasn't sure how much she could take though assumed it was a bit more than most humans could.
Anna could take a lot, but she would probably also push herself beyond her capabilities because that was her way. A part of her also wanted to impress Castiel.
She took a quick step back and parried with her sword. It was the first time in a long time that she had parried an actual swing and she felt the impact ripple up her arm muscles. It felt good.
Anna used the momentum of the parry to twirl on the spot and swing downward to where his thigh would be. Controlled, though, so he if didn't block if, she wouldn't actually hurt him too much. She didn't think he'd miss though.
He was impressed, but certainly not surprised by her actions. She was quick and precise, but he wouldn't have accepted anything less.
It did take him a moment to figure out what she was doing, but he had just enough time to parry back with the guard of his sword, his knees bending a bit as he used force, pushing up from his feet and legs instead of his arms, and knocking her sword right out of her hands. It was a bit more force than he expected, and the sword landed a few yards away.
"If anything, I think you've improved." He wouldn't try to fight Anna unarmed, so he teleported over to grab her sword and then back again, holding it out for her hilt forward.
"It's a compliment." Castiel found himself blushing. It wasn't easy, keeping feelings away.
"You have to work harder as a human, practice more, to get as good as you are." Though he knew she still had memories of being an angel, and perhaps quite a bit of 'residual instinct'.
"I didn't know you still did this." He added, starting again, but this time aiming lower as he swung. No, he'd still be a little careful. He wouldn't hurt her, that was for sure, though even if he did he would heal her.
She had to work hard to compensate as she had anticipated a different move from him. It was close, but she was able to match his swing with her own.
"I didn't for the longest time. But then the village was attacked and I was out of it for so long my muscles hurt for days after. So I thought I better get back into it."
Castiel hadn't expected her to thrust, but luckily with his angel reflexes, he stopped her from hitting him just in time.
Their blades were low to the ground now, and Cas smirked over at her for a brief moment, taking his eyes of the swords. "It suits you. I'm reminded of the phrase 'badass' which is, apparently, a good thing." Yep, his girlfriend was definitely 'badass'.
Anna hadn't expected to hear Castiel say 'badass' and she hadn't expected him to use it to describe her. Anna flushed softly and smiled at the compliment. Unfortunately she was also slightly distracted now.
"No, it's fine." Anna's smile grew in strength and she seemed to recover which meant so moved to disarm Castiel. Anna was aware the likelihood of that actually happening was slim.

"Just don't frighten the bees." He pointed out.

He moved to thrust, aiming toward her left shoulder, but obviously not wanting to hurt her.
