Charles was out early - they were in need of tea, you see. How was one to start a morning without tea?
Tha was acquired easily enough and he was beginning his trip back to the hotel on the sidewalk, clear and smooth, when it occurred to him, seemingly out of nowhere. With a soft, rueful chuckle, he put the sack with the tea and fixings in his lap and looked about. The coast seemed clear. Then he took a deep breath, checked the second hand on his watch and put his hands on his wheels.
Then he started moving, pushing his chair as fast as he could. One of the most powerful minds in the world, it could be argued, was racing himself back to the hotel, wearing a nearly gleeful grin.
When he came near the doors, he let the chair roll. That had been fun.
