There was no real reason to attempt messaging her mother, when she knew the woman would stare at the device before simply seeking Regina out. It wasn't that she didn't know how to use it. Regina simply knows that her mother thinks she's above an informal message. Regina knows this because she was a queen once. Any news of importance should be delivered in person, unless there was urgent need for ravens. Only then was a written message acceptable. Anything else wasn't important. So, Regina had gone to Cora's room and requested a meeting at the bakery an hour before Henry would be done with school. That would be plenty of time to tell her what she needed to and inevitably cool down before Henry arrived.
Instead of cider today, she has a glass of lemonade. It's certainly warm enough for it now, and soon she's brought a slice of fresh apple pie. She already knows that she'll have one now, and another in an hour with Henry.
