This town, no matter how long he would spend in it, would never truly be home for him. Steve had Hawaii in his heart, and that was something you couldn't easily take from someone, but in the end he tried to make his time here worth it. Working as a local police officer gave him a sense of purpose, something he had lost when he arrived here. Carrying a weapon and a badge was who Steve was. He was a man of the law, who just happened to have feelings for a self-proclaimed criminal... What could go wrong? He could hear Danny's protests in the back of his mind, and that made him grin.
Today was a day off for him, which was rare. Steve was a workaholic and preferred to be roaming the streets with that glittering badge on his hip. It had been a long time since he felt the breeze of O'ahu, smelled the salty water and went for a swim in the warm swell. He missed it more than anyone could know. Hawaii held all of his most precious memories. Thankfully the town had this gadget called the 'Holosuite' inside the bar Ten Forward, which gave a pretty believable image of whatever you wanted, at least from how he understood it. All this weird technology was still very new to him.
Steve donned his favorite pair of Hawaiian print swim trunks, flip flops, Navy SEAL tank top and sunglasses before heading downtown to the bar. He was going to spend his day in O'ahu, on the beach. Queen's Beach with the sweetest swell, a cold beer, and his surfboard. That's all he wanted in life. Sand, sun, and the sweet smell of O'ahu.
