Wash, freshly out of the shower, his hair standing on end where he'd rubbed it with a towel, smiled at Maya's response as he stood in the doorway. "Anyone'd think you were happy to see me, mei mei," Wash said with a grin at Zoe.

"Well, she knows now that you're back around, she can start getting anything she wants again," Zoe smirks.

"What? I let you get anything you want?" Wash said, scooping Maya up into his arms, and kissing her all over her face. "I don't spoil you." Much.

Maya coos happily and scrunches up her nose as she giggles.

Zoe sits on the bed to pull on her boots. "Don't you ask for a pony, bao bei, okay?"

Wash fussed over Maya for a moment, before putting her in the middle of the bed so that he could get dressed.

"Mommy's silly!" he pointed out. "We'd never fit a pony here."

Zoe laughs, then watches as Maya reaches for her laces that are on the bed, waiting to be wrapped around her neck.

"Shepard messaged me. Wondered about havin' a group dinner soon. You okay with that this weekend?"

"You know if she gets those, they'll be straight in her mouth," Wash said, grabbing the laces and putting them out of reach, distracting her with one of her soft toy dinosaurs.

"Sounds good to me. Seems like we ain't seen each other for ages."

"And the doc, the captain bein' gone. Be good to see everyone still here, face to face. Plus, haven't had Kaylee over."

"An' Kaylee loves spendin' time with Maya," Wash said, getting dressed, then lying on the bed, lifting Maya high above him.

He looked at Zoe. "Think one of them'll babysit one night?"

"You kiddn'? All of 'em might have to fight Jayne though," she smirks.

"Think I can take my wife out to dinner then?" Wash suggested. "On a proper date." They didn't do those often.

"Don't know. Maybe you should ask her," Zoe says with an innocent look.

Wash had got as far as putting his boxers on, but leaned over, kissing Zoe on the top of her head. "Bao bei, wanna go out to dinner in the next few days?" he grinned at her. "I can promise good food, and my full attention."

Raising her head, she brushes her lips against his. "Well, you're promsin' all the good stuff. I'll ask Kaylee if she'll watch Maya. I don't figure her for sayin' no."

"Sure she will, an' then I get my wife all to myself for an evening," Wash said, grinning at her. "Sure we can think of somethin' to do for a while."

Maya was not impressed that her parents weren't paying any attention to her, and squawked.

"Little girl, you know how much attention we pay to you?" Zoe jokes as she reaches over and drags her by her ankles gently, before leaning down to blow raspberries on her tummy.
