dropping off the kid [closed to Jayne]

In the past, Zoe would have scoffed at the idea of Jayne Cobb looking after an infant. That was until she saw him with hers, and now, other than Mal, she's pretty sure Jayne's the safest bet. It wasn't really in Jayne to apologize and he sure wouldn't apologize for shooting anyone who meant Maya harm.

Still, he had to admit it was a bit strange that he was getting ready to babysit but the truth was that he was actually looking forward to it. He even cleaned up his place, putting his weapons up high where Maya couldn't get to them. Nevermind that she couldn't crawl or anything.

Hearing the knock, Jayne made his way over to open the door...and then he couldn't help but appreciate the view in front of him. "Gonna shoot me if I say you look good?"

"Not this time," Zoe says. She knows she looks good tonight, but the only important part is that Wash thinks so too.

"Now you're sure you wanna do this? I can still call 'Nara."

Jayne grinned, then shook his head. "No way, we're good." He held out his arms. "Hand her over."

Zoe carefully puts Maya in his arms, then goes to the table, setting down the bag and pulling out a bottle to put in the fridge.

"You gotta warm this up, but not too hot. Test it on your arm first, make sure it don't burn. And she eats in about an hour."
