Zoe's having an interesting time coming to grips with maternity leave. She winds up at the store if it's not too cold or wet outside to take Maya out. She doesn't work much, but she can't stay cooped up in their room for long. Today's been one of those days, and Zoe gets the baby dressed in one of many dinosaur themed articles of clothing before

Wash was in the back, moving some crates of fresh fruit around to make sure there was enough room when he caught sight of his family. "Look who is out," he said, bounding over to the pair of them, then calming instantly, checking if Maya was awake or asleep. "My two beautiful girls."

Zoe pulls the blanket off of Maya to reveal an awake baby blinking up at Wash.

"After all the rain we were feelin' kinda cooped up and decided to come out and see our favorite person." She leans in to kiss her husband carefully before standing still to let him lift Maya out of the sling.

Wash smiled as he saw Maya was awake, and carefully lifted her out of the sling, kissing her head before holding her gently. "Well, we're glad to see you both," he said, grinning first at Zoe, then smiling at Maya.

"She just woke up, should be nice and happy for you. I'll move this stuff if you wanna hold onto her."

Zoe needs to work, or do something, so she starts working where he left off before he can protest.

Ellen was at the general store trying to take stock of what she needed when Zoe entered. She can't help but smile when she sees the beautiful baby swaddled close to her mother's chest. "She's beautiful."

Zoe nods and manages a little smile. Her wild hair is out free today without being tied back. She's trying to get better about talking to people she doesn't know, and here she feels a degree better knowing Wash is here, plus Jayne with a gun. Not that she's not packing her own heat carefully hidden away.

"Thank you kindly, ma'am. I think so."

Ellen wouldn't normally say anything, either, but when it comes to children, she feels compelled to comment.

"Children are quite a gift from God. It's good to see that the village keeps letting people here have them."

Whatever faith Zoe had managed to hold onto by a thread had gone by the wayside when Wash was killed, but now she's not sure. Her husband's back from the dead in time to be with his daughter and have a chance to see her grow up.

"Think the village is good at second chances in that respect," she settles on.

Hephaestus was on a walk of his own having taken a break to track down something to eat. While he could have called something up he'd decided to see a few sights. "Had the little one then?"

Zoe looks at him, and against all odds manages to keep her expression passive.

"No. Just got tired of waitin' so I took one from someone else."

He chuckled softly,"I hope you picked a good one then."

"I think we'll keep her, this one's a good sleeper," Zoe says as she gives a little smile.

Jayne was working in the back and he glanced upwards when he heard someone approaching. Straightening, he grinned a bit at the sight of Zoe but moreso for the sight of the bundle tucked against her.

"Hey." He greeted them both.

Zoe smiles and pulls Maya out of her sling, turning her outward so Jayne can see her wide awake.

"Hey Uncle Jayne. Stayin' outta trouble?"

Dusting his hands off against his hips, he made sure they were clean before reaching out for the baby.

"No trouble to get into." He shrugged, still smiling at the baby.

Zoe hands her over easy. "Thanks for puttin' in extra work, you know I appreciate it."

When Jayne has her, Maya looks up at him, looking at him with big eyes and a look halfway between a smile and concentration.
