Zoe's having an interesting time coming to grips with maternity leave. She winds up at the store if it's not too cold or wet outside to take Maya out. She doesn't work much, but she can't stay cooped up in their room for long. Today's been one of those days, and Zoe gets the baby dressed in one of many dinosaur themed articles of clothing before

Wash was in the back, moving some crates of fresh fruit around to make sure there was enough room when he caught sight of his family. "Look who is out," he said, bounding over to the pair of them, then calming instantly, checking if Maya was awake or asleep. "My two beautiful girls."

Zoe pulls the blanket off of Maya to reveal an awake baby blinking up at Wash.

"After all the rain we were feelin' kinda cooped up and decided to come out and see our favorite person." She leans in to kiss her husband carefully before standing still to let him lift Maya out of the sling.

Wash smiled as he saw Maya was awake, and carefully lifted her out of the sling, kissing her head before holding her gently. "Well, we're glad to see you both," he said, grinning first at Zoe, then smiling at Maya.

"She just woke up, should be nice and happy for you. I'll move this stuff if you wanna hold onto her."

Zoe needs to work, or do something, so she starts working where he left off before he can protest.

Wash knows Zoe hates sitting doing nothing, so let's her move some of the things - carefully, of course.

"She is," he said with a little wonder in his expression, like he still can't believe that this is his daughter.

Maya watches Wash, forehead knit as if in concentration. "She's sleepin' longer int he mornings after she eats. She didn't wake up until eight this mornin'."

Wash pulled a funny face at Maya, smiling at her before kissing her temple. "Eight? Really? You lettin' your Momma sleep now?"

Maya is still looking at him, but suddenly her look breaks and she smiles at him and it holds - it's not passing or fleeting like before. Smiling like this, shows off that she definitely has her mother's dimples, and she watches Wash intently.

Wash reacts to the smile by laughing - just like her mother, she had dimples, as he half expected. "Zoe," he said quietly, getting his wife's attention.

"Hmm?" Zoe asks, moving to stand next to Wash, kissing his cheek softly.

"Look," he said in a soft voice, still smiling at Maya, who was smiling in return.

Zoe looks down at Maya who waves an arm up and down, and for just a second Zoe can't figure out what to do. Her baby is smiling at her, at them, for the first time and it makes her realize that nearly a month has gone by already.

"Look at that beautiful grin," she says softly, completely awestruck by her daughter.

"Ain't it amazin'?" Wash said, as awestruck as Zoe is. He takes a minute just to soak it in, the fact that his own daughter is smiling back at them.

Maya yawns, and now she's just watching them watch her, apparently not as impressed with her own smiling as her parents are.

"You believe it's almost been a month already?"

"Nope, not at all. She can't be nearly a month old already," Wash said leaning in and kissing Zoe. "At least I ain't goin' insane from being landside."

"Don't know when you'd have time to dwell on it too much right now. But we can still go to the holosuite. 'Least give you a taste of the black."
