The last thing Lydia had expected to wake up next to was a white hare. The cat hadn't expected to find it on the bed, either, but he'd at least seemed to sense that the daemon wasn't actually prey. When Lydia--not expecting an answer, but out of habit of talking to the cat--asked the hare where he'd come from and he'd answered, she'd almost fallen off the bed.
A lot had happened in the village, sure, but she hadn't exactly expected to end up in some version of her own Wonderland, okay? Talking white rabbits (well, cousin of rabbits, at least) were outside of her experience. But there was a sense of...rightness, too, and a feeling of completion when she reached out to pet him and he let her. They were one, part of each other, and there was a peace to that.
She'd almost adjusted, sort of, to Dar by the time they left the hotel to go open the arcade. He kept up with no problem (hares apparently could run at speeds of 72mph, so her leisurely stroll was nothing), looking around with interest, though he did settle in close again once she was in the arcade, tucking up against her on the counter while she went over receipts, sipping her tea and waiting for customers to arrive.
Sarah came in before they did, though, a black cat literally wrapped around her shoulders, tail flicking, looking a bit bored. The two women gave each other looks, as did the two daemons, before Sarah laughed.
"I guess the village decided it was time for everyone to meet themselves a bit more thoroughly from what I've figured out?"
"So it seems," Lydia said, with a smile, glancing down at the hare. She wasn't quite sure how she felt about that, truthfully.
Sarah's cat--daemon--yawned and its tail twitched back and forth uncomfortably, which was sort of amusing given the somewhat uncomfortable look on Sarah's face, despite the laughter.
"This'll be...fun," the blond said with another forced smile, and Lydia gave an attempted agreement, all the time wondering just how the hell she was supposed to dance with a hare in attendance...
