Elena was humming softly under her breath after she sent the message to Bonnie. Things were nice and peaceful and being in the village had change her in a lot of good ways.

Stefan was in the hotel, having been led to his room by Damon. He'd been assigned Room 477, but hadn't even unlocked the door yet.

He paused when he reached the door that Damon had revealed to be Elena's. He hated being hesitant. With a firm knock, he waited.

Stefan tried to keep his face and posture calm and collected. He was succeeding for the time-being, but he doubted that could last the moment he saw Elena again.

Elena wasn't expecting any visitors right now, so she was curious when she heard the knock on her door. Putting one of her pillows down on the bed she turned and headed to the door and opened it. (She would no doubt get chastised later for not checking to see who it was before opening the door.)

When she saw who was standing there, her eyes widened in uncertainty for a moment and then a flare of hope filled them.

"Stefan?"

If this was a trick by the village she was going to hurt someone. She reached her hand out towards him and said his name again.

Stefan watched every bit of emotion that swept through her.

He wanted to grab onto her and hold her; kiss her and tell her how much it had hurt when she died, then how it had almost killed him when she vanished entirely. Part of him hesitated, but he tried not to let it show. All the things Damon had told him put him on edge.

Instead, he reached out a hand to hers, intertwining his fingers with hers. "Elena...they said you were really here. Alive. I..." Stefan was indeed speechless. He stood still, eyes locked with hers.

She looked at their hands and a small smile crossed her face as she looked back at him. She had to clear her throat twice before she could get the words out.

"I am... alive. I'm not sure what happened but I'm here... and you're here again." She searched his eyes, and then stepped up to hug him.
