Margaret had made an appointment with the newest doctor on staff at the clinic, and timed her lunch break to coincide with it. She had asked Betty to meet her there, but hadn't really told her why. She tried very hard to pretend she was NOT anxious, those were NOT butterflies in her stomach, and as a result was a little more career Army in manner than she had been since her first year in Korea -- all business, no chitchat, incredibly efficient, professionally friendly with patients but no more than that. Oh wait, they are called 'clients' now. That was going to take some getting used to.
Lunch break finally came, and Margaret picked up the folder with her new patient paperwork already filled out (see, efficient -- she had even weighed herself and had a colleague take her pulse and blood pressure and marked those results in the appropriate places) put the chart in Juliet's door, sat in the chair nearby and waited for Betty's arrival, and for her name to be called. Not nervous - the fidgeting leg, the frequent getting up, pacing a bit, then sitting back down - good for the circulation. That's her story and she is sticking to it.
