Martha hadn't seen Lucas since they found him in the woods a few days back. She wasn't sure if he wanted to see her, truthfully, or if he was ready to. Not to mention the fact she was still trying to suss out the way she felt about him not mentioning he was a spy. A part of her felt like all their encounters up until now had somehow been orchestrated for one reason or another, despite was Lucas said. But the more Martha thought about it, the more she realized she had been unfair too. He never mentioned he was a spy, but she told him the whole truth when he asked her things like how she had come to traveling in Russia. Martha didn't enjoy being a hypocrite, so things needed to be set straight.
The secretariat at the school had given her directions to Lucas' office. It was around lunch time so she hoped he would be there. In her hand was a bag with sandwiches, salad, cut up oranges, juice, and two slices of vanilla cake. Hopefully Lucas would be in the mood for lunch. She couldn't eat it all on her own.
She slowed when she came to his door and paused, then slowly reached out and knocked softly.
