I have just finished speaking with Richard at the library. Things could have gone much worse--he will let me try and rebuild his trust after my incredible stupidity. Things are more widespread than I imagined--there are rumours. These I must find out about because at least one of them I know is not true ( Read more... )

There comes a knock on his door, and a familiar (if possibly unwanted) voice through it. "Faramir?"

It has been a week since it happened. Had there been a problem, I should have heard from her by now. I'm not sure what Glaurnaneth wants--reading lessons? Or she has heard rumours also. I open the door.

"Yes?" I'm ashamed of what I did but I do not need to hide. "Is something wrong?"

"I met and spoke with Sophie. I said I was sorry but do not think she believed me." The Sophie woman was observant.

"Where and when did you see here?" Is this where the rumours came from? But Sophie would not do that.

"What did you apologise for, exactly?" That might make a difference.

Blair had been about, helping Chuck set up Victrola and just doing whatever she could to keep herself occupied. It was a bit hard at times since it wasn't home, she was used to the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Not this quiet village that left her feeling horribly restless.

She was actually going down the stairs, reminding herself to breathe slowly as she did so. She had been eating a little more than usual, probably from stress but she couldn't get rid of it the same way. Not with Chuck around. He would notice if she kept going into the bathroom after she ate, so she was actually trying the whole work out thing.

She was near the bottom when she spotted a familiar form and she smiled, "Faramir." She looked to the first man who had been nice to her when she had arrived.

Not a lot of people take the stairs, so I'm a bit surprised to find someone coming down. It is one of those I met when she arrived. I know the exact day she arrived.

"Blair, it has been some time. How have you settled in here?" Two months--I met her the day I met Glaurnaneth.

It had been awhile since she had saw him. She hadn't meant to send him a gift and then just disappear but it had taken a lot of adjusting. She was just thankful she had Chuck and Serena. Pausing on the stairs, she tilted her head as she looked at him.

"Yes, it has. I'm sorry I was so rude to just disappear." She rolled her eyes at herself as she curled her fingers around the banister, "I've settled alright. How are you doing?"

"It is not rude, and there is no reason to speak to me just because I was the first to meet you here. Though I certainly do not mind seeing you again, but you need not feel obliged."

I'm not entirely sure how to answer but I decide to shrug the cloak off, showing the sling on my left arm.

"I have a cloak again, which is convenient. I am injured, which is not so. Nothing severe, just bruising, but enough to make me have to keep my arm in this." I make a bit of a face. "I do not care for it at all."

It has been several days, Shasta has spoken with Bree, and now he is ready to speak with Faramir.

He feels very awkward and... uneasy... and he nearly turns away.

But he is at the door. He squares his shoulders, gulps down his fears, firms his jaw, and knocks.

Another knock, but I know it is not Glaurnaneth returned. I'm almost positive it isn't Sophie or Boromir... I go to the door and open it, that being wiser than speculating.

"Shasta." I'm not sure what to say. He knew something was wrong and Bree could have told him all or nothing. "Would you like to come in?"

Better to talk here, since now I know people are listening and spreading rumours.

"Hello, Faramir," Shasta says quietly. "Yes, please."

His eyes go to the sling.

"You are hurt?"

I stand back and close the door behind Shasta when he has entered.

"Sit down if you like." Chairs or couch or my bed--it is all more comfortable than it was.

"Not badly hurt. It was the creature from the lake that hit me. It's only bruised and the doctor said I should be able to take the sling off next week." In time to help with the egg, or I can put in on after. I just need to be careful. "It was subdued by some magic that made it much smaller and purple. I'm not sure whose."

It does not really matter, since the creature is taken care of and no one was badly hurt.

"But that is not why you are here."
