To love, and be loved in return .... (OTA, dual pup post)

Eventually, Charles knew he should go back to teaching his classes. He should be responsible, he knew. But in a way, he felt like he was just settling back in to the village, finding himself here, with Jack and his friends; Elle. He was liked here, loved. After being alone for so long (apologies, Hank), it took some getting used to. He sat in front ( Read more... )

Jack had seen Charles from afar and had been heading in his direction with a giant grin plastered on his face, but his stride was slowed when he noticed a figure sticking to the shadows in an alley out of the corner of his village.

Hmm...

He turned to look, "Hey, there." Jack called out, smile warm and friendly as he neared, "Everything going alright back there?"

Blinking out of his reverie, Charles looked up at him and felt himself smile, felt that warmth in his chest. "Fine," he said, leaning forward to push out the chair across from him. "Sit with me?"

Jack grinned, leaning over him to give him a kiss on the cheek before taking the offered chair, sitting down. He leaned forward to look at him. "So... penny for your thoughts? I'm not the mind-reader and I can't help but be curious."

"Be glad you can't read minds," Charles said with a soft laugh. It still made him tired, though he was getting stronger daily. "I'm probably thinking of things I shouldn't," he admitted. "Regrets. Losses."

[[ooc: because why the hell not? ]]

Elle was still a little out of place in the village. Lonely. She had Charles and Jack, sure, but there were days she really really missed Frank.

Like really bad. Even if he didn't share her feelings.

And of course that was the moment she saw Charles and Jack off in the distance. She stopped at an alleyway, pouting a bit when she saw Jack kiss Charles. Yeah, she was jealous. Not of one or the other, but that they had someone. She loved them, but seriously did they have to shove it in her face like that? Jerks.

(ooc: LOL!)

Gaze caught by the woman who stopped suddenly from where he sat. He pulled his knees tighter to his chest as quietly as he could.

Elle heard someone, a shuffling, and she turned her head to look, frown deepening.

"Somebody back there?" she stepped closer, leaning in the dark to look.

With a sigh, the creature prepared for whatever reaction he might get. He missed the sun on his skin. "D-do not b-be af-afraid," he said, though he knew that couldn't be controlled.

Catherine was on her way back toward the hotel when out of the corner of her eye, she saw movement. It was small and barely noticeable but it did catch her eye enough to turn her head. She smiled when she saw who it was, but worried when she noticed the body language. It pained her to see it and pissed her off if people weren't treating him well.

"Hi." She closed the distance between them and motioned to where he sat with his back to the wall. "Is it okay if I join you?"

Feeling his chest clench, the creature looked up at her, almost wishing himself invisible. But he couldn't bear to send her away, not Catherine. He nodded, already smelling her perfume, sweet, just like her.

She sat down beside him, just sitting there quietly letting him have his peace before she finally asked, "is everything all right?"

He could only look at her in snatches, feeling embarrassment for what he had confessed to Aphrodite. He nodded. "I h-have n-new m-music." He drew the small device he had found, holding a myriad of songs on it.

Draco, armed with a delicious-looking pastry, sat down across from Charles and smiled.

"That hair is still a shock. I had to double-check it was you," he said, unconcerned that he hadn't been invited to interrupt Charles' thoughts.

It was a welcome interruption regardless. Charles blinked, then smiled. "Hello, Draco. Perhaps I'll keep it long as to keep you off-guard."

"Cheeky today," he said with a chuckle and nibbled his pastry.

"You looked rather deep in thought. Anything important?"

The thoughts were very similar to what Charles had been thinking the last time he and Draco had met; he was abashed to admit that. "I find myself distracted, still, by what I should be doing in New York."
