Practicing [ota]

He'd found the training remote droid in his room this morning and could barely contain his glee. Were Jedi allowed to be giddy? Perhaps strong emotions like that weren't preferable, but at the moment Obi-wan didn't care. Because the droid meant he could practice his saber training ( Read more... )

Jean had been giving some thoughts to training as well - exploring her emerging abilities was a little intimidating, but doing nothing worried her more.

She was strolling towards the park, thinking about how to go about it when she realized that she was sensing something familiar.

Jean couldn't help be smiled when she saw Obi-Wan practicing. She'd only spoken with him the one time, but it was hard not to like the boy.

Not wanting to disturb him, she watched quietly as he practiced.

[ooc: She'll resist the urge to hug him and ruffle his hair. *g* ]

He kept up the exercise, blocking the blasts as they came, until something broke his concentration, the Force nudging him that he had someone watching. Which took his concentration away from the ball-- a bolt hitting him on the side.

"Ow!" he cried, quick to shut off the ball with his mind, sliding off the blindfold as he rubbed at his side. Brilliant, Obi-wan, that would be sure to impress whoever it was watching you...

[[ooc: lol, good- Obi-wan's a serious Jedi doing serious Jedi bizness! *pouts* ;) ]]

"Are you alright?" Jean said, hiding a smile. "I'm sorry if I distracted you."

[ooc: Almost makes me want to app Ani, but together they'd just be too adorable. *g* ]

"I'm fine, it just shocked me a little." he insisted, hooking his lightsaber on his belt.

I recognise the figure in the park, though it takes a moment to figure out what he's doing. The sword I understand, though it glows. The floating object I'm unsure of. When it shoots something out and Obi-wan deflects it, I cannot help myself.

"By the Valar, what kind of training is that?" I've spoken before I realise that the young man is wearing a blindfold and I've probably just disturbed him enough. What happens if he's hit with that... whatever it is? Is that like the laser weapons some people use?

Obi-wan faltered at the sudden voice breaking his concentration from his task, losing his grip on the Force. Because of that, he was unable to predict the next blast which hit him in the shoulder and he hissed in pain. The blasts from the droid weren't meant to do any lasting damage but it still smarted.

He turned off the droid with a push with his mind and it dropped to the grass and he turned his head, slipping off the blindfold, "It's Jedi training... to learn to let the Force guide me and not simply my eyes--" he rubbed his shoulder, "And I still need work, apparently."

"I'm sorry, Obi-wan. I didn't realise you couldn't see." He's been hit but it doesn't seem that bad--he's acting like it isn't. "Are you hurt from that thing?"

I have so many questions.

"We train. In time, soldiers learn when there's something behind them, although I know I couldn't spar with a blindfold on, not even now." Perhaps it's an instinct that lets us know. Could we sense a machine like that? "This Force is more than ordinary training, obviously. You will get better: you are not even grown yet."

There is time. I hope there is time for him. Perhaps not, to train soldiers so young. Then again, Boromir went to the army when he was fourteen.

"I'm only a little singed, it's only a small shock." Obi-wan reassured him, disengaging his lightsaber the glowing blade disappearing into the hilt.

Obi-wan had done entire sparing matches against fellow students, not even knowing who he was fighting as they were both blindfolded.

"And I hope you're right. It is why I'm training, after all." he smiled lightly.

Penny was jogging through the park when she spotted the familiar young man holding a familiar-looking object. Holy crap on a cracker, that was a legit lightsaber! Of course, Penny knew that Obi-wan was a legit Jedi, so it stood to reason that he'd have a lightsaber. She approached him slowly, watching in interest. She didn't want to interrupt, so she would wait for him to pause and notice her before she spoke to him.

It took about another five minutes before Obi-wan stopped to take a break, having already been at it for about an hour. Shutting the droid off with a flick of his wrist, he turned the lightsaber off, turning to look at the presence he could feel before ever even taking off the blindfold.

Smiling, he slipped it off, "Hello, Penny."

Penny smiled widely in return.

"Hi Obi-wan. Whatcha doing?"

"Practicing." he lifted his lightsaber and shrugged, "What are you doing?"
