In Boston, there hadn't been much chance to go swimming, not really. And once they started doing God's work, there hadn't been much time. But here, in the village? After they got off work, well, they had time to themselves! No justice needing doling out ( Read more... )

Rather than outraged voices they might hear an amused laugh, the source of the laugh was a familiar figure in a body skimming black one piece, sunglasses shading her eyes and her hair in a messy knot.

"Having fun boys?"

Murphy stopped splashing Connor and then looked around, swimming in a slow circle for the source of the voice.

He found it and then grinned.

"Always. We Irish know how to have fun, eh?" he replied, brogue thick while kicking underwater and connecting with a Connor body part.

"If memory serves," she chuckled again, smiling at their antics. "You do know how to have fun."

"Aye." Connor's answer came out in a grunt at being kicked in the fucking gut! Murphy.

Connor pulled at that foot, til he could get a hand on his shoulder and dunk his brother. Then he grinned at River. "And how are you?"

She had the afternoon to herself-without the kids-and with the weather being as hot as it was, and herself growing bigger by the day..it seemed as good as any to head out to the pool.

Her old swimsuit finally had to be switched in for a new one, and while it was nice to know that the baby was healthy, and finally started moving-it didn't let up from the fact that she was already starting to feel large about it. For some reason, the new hormones also darkened where her scars were, so even the old ones by her shoulder, arm, and legs seemed more noticeable.

These she tried to ignore for a swim, but as she was getting in for a second lap..so much for a relaxing afternoon.

She coughed and grabbed onto the edge of the pool..seeing who it was-maybe her irritation did lessen a bit.

"And to think, I was hoping for a kid free afternoon." She couldn't really find fault with their behavior really-she knew too many guys like that and it was a nice touch of home.

"Oy!" Murphy looked over blinking water from his eyes. "Who you callin' kid?"

So they acted twelve sometimes (mostly him), so what?

"The two guys that are right now behaving like my own kids-and they're two years old."

It should've been noticed by either brother that Sonya wasn't exactly scolding them so much as calling them out as she saw them. Granted, if she were a few years younger herself, she would've made a rude face at them..but hell, apparently she was supposed to be more of an adult around them too.

She did think it was a nice change after seeing how they fought. Not that they weren't bad (hell, their aim was pretty good), but it was always something of a relief to see two people like that still be able to joke around.

"My apologies," Connor said with a crooked, winning smile - all the while getting an arm around Murphy's head to dunk him. "My younger brother's rude. He doesn't know how to talk to a lady.

A pregnant lady at that.
