Steps leading somewhere [tag Saetan, Faramir, sort of open?]

Jan 30, 2012 23:07

Rehearsals were not yet under full swing at the Opera House yet, and she did not have many classes this month, so when she'd spoken to Saetan and they'd discussed dances from their home worlds, the similarities and differences, she'd suggested they each teach a dance they knew to the other. Tonight it was her turn - she was to teach him the ( Read more... )

Hoping it's okay to jump in now. Going to be out of town later Monday, so not sure how this will work.

Meg has a lesson to teach but we are meeting for supper afterward. Considering my... whatever it was with Tabitha, I have absolutely no right to be jealous. Meg could dance with anyone at the Christmas party and that would have been fine. I do not mind her teaching Draco, certainly. I suppose this dancing alone simply reminds me of Buffy and John on the island. I really don't even know what it is that Meg feels about me, though I do hope to speak of it and find out.

If she feels nothing, then my own guilt about being with Tabitha will hopefully go away. I'm healthy and it had been a long time. I just... if I am with Meg, no matter in what sense, I should not be with anyone else. I don't want to think about any of that, just have a pleasant evening in good company and maybe find out if there is more than simple friendship here.

[[apparently I fell off the internet, so it worked out okayish? Because I'm now the late one... or still the late one... or something.]]

Meg had gone home to change after her lesson with Lord SaDiablo, and despite the time elapse some of the flush still remained in her cheeks when she met Faramir in the lobby.

"Faramir!" she called in greeting, and walked up to him happily before exchanging the cheek kisses that were so common to her back home. "How was your day?"

I am accustomed to the kisses on the cheek. Perhaps... Well, we shall see.

"It was a very good day, not too busy, and I had the thoughts of a pleasant evening ahead in my mind. It is good to have something to anticipate."

She looks all fresh and not really blushing, but with a healthy glow.

"And yourself?" I say as I offer my arm.

"Oh, my day went as most do - readying for the next show at the Opera House, classes at the Studio - Lord SaDiablo took very well to the dance. He's quite the accomplished dancer." She took his arm, and was more aware than usual of the proximity, the touch.

"It must be pleasing to have a skilled student." There is something to be said for teaching someone from the start, but there's nothing wrong with showing a skilled person a few things here and there either. I must remember that I have no right to be jealous. It is her work and I've no right anyway.

"Do you wish for the restaurant that changes or something simple like the cafe?" She may be very hungry or just a little, and she is so small compared with me. Then again, her work is much harder than it appears to be at first.

"It's more of an exchange. Some other time he'll teach me a dance from his world. I already learned a few from Rainier, ages ago, but Lord SaDiablo knows more... he's lived so long."

"The restaurant, I think - I'm nearly starved."

"Gondor has dances. I learned well enough even though we have very few celebrations." Yes, I would show her, though they are not intended for two people and I don't know what music would work.

We're on our way to the restaurant at her request. Now would be an absolutely terrible time for it to be Japanese raw fish, not with Meg being so hungry.

"Strange to think that it has been nearly a year now since we met."

She thought about that for a moment. "Yes, I suppose it has. Strange indeed. Though sometimes it feels like I've known you far longer." She smiled up at him happily, squeezing his arm gently as they walked.

"Our worlds are more alike than most, at least we have less technology. Perhaps that is why." The manners and rules are more familiar with Meg. That has made things easier, but it may well make things more awkward now.

"I am very glad to have met you. Not only have I learned things about your world--the world of dance--that I never would have understood otherwise, but you yourself are a source of brightness to me." She is so positive about things. "I always look forward to our meeting."

"Perhaps. Though I think I would be more comfortable in your world than you would be in mine. Paris is quite crowded."

She smiled at him, just as brightly as always. "As do I, Faramir. Every time."

"Perhaps so. Minas Tirith is crowded, though I'm sure it's not the same." Paris is likely much worse in that regard, though it surely has great wonders even in Meg's time.

"I do not know how you feel about it, though I am glad that you look forward to seeing me as I do you." Now is as good as any time. "I've for some time wondered if perhaps... we might be more than formal companions."

That is how it began.

"The more I know you, the more I wish to know. Perhaps you do not feel the same and I will understand if that is so. We can be as we were. But, if you felt the same, I would have there be something more." Only if she wishes. "Nothing untoward, certainly. I know you are a lady."

Meg stopped walking, then, and without letting go she turned to look up at him. A tinge of pink rose in her cheeks again, but she did not fully blush.

"I - I would like that, Faramir. I've become quite fond of you."

I smile in return, more than I was before.

"It is a great relief to hear." I was worried. It would have been fine to continue as we were but I think this is better. "I suppose that makes this our first true date, as the modern people call it. I feel as though I should have been more nervous."

We've been out before, just not quite like this. I actually like the not having to be so nervous part. There's a bit of that, but Meg and I have been to enough events that this is comfortable. I'll have enough nerves later if I decide that I will ask to kiss her.

"I suppose it does." she said. "Shall we continue?" And once they got there they would have to find a way to mark the occasion... perhaps with a special dessert, or champagne?

"Of course." She'll only be more hungry after her lesson. Now, if the restaurant doesn't turn into something ridiculous--we just wish to have a comfortable dinner in peace.

Do you want to ff through dinner?

[[and one magical timeskip later, they're finishing their food and the bottle of wine? on to dessert or back home or whatever you like. <3 ]]

Even now, almost two hours after her lesson with Lord SaDiablo, she still felt quite self-aware, and though she had enjoyed the dinner, she almost wished to be walking again, that she might touch Faramir, hold his arm, instead of simply sitting across from him at table. She rested her left hand on the table, now, instead of in her lap, though she could not exactly say why.
